+ Display holds up with minimal burn-in
+ Micro SD card slot

- Really, really ugly holy hell
- Shit cameras
- Single speaker on the back is easy to accidentally cover and literally hurts to listen to
- Display is slightly green and very dim

+Great one handed use
+Great Dac
+Its literally the phone with the most accessories, replacements and cases in the world
+Battery life and screen under sunlight
:i expected more from the camera
:dont even need or use NFC
-ios being dumb when android does logical stuff easy like transfering through bluetooth files

10/10 hardware and design, shitty OS that while i accept its restrictions from fucking up my phone setting shit up or wasting my time ricing it, i wish it were more open towards file sharing, file management and customization.

+ Powerful (at least at the time I bought it)
+ Vibrant display
- - - - - - - - - FUCKING A MILLION MINUSES: Fucking LG is literally scum and this piece of shit has an overheating design flaw. Already replaced the phone TWICE!!!! in the year it was under warranty due to the "bootloop" problem. It WILL happen again and then I'm SOL because it's out of warranty and lG doesn't give a fuck.
- Shit battery life (canceled out by swappable battery I guess)

>>
OnePlus X

Pros
Micro-SD slot or dual sim
Thin
Amoled screen
Is durable for an all glass phone
Hardware buttons
Good soc, is pretty fast
Sleek design
Price

Cons
Terrible battery life
No replacable battery
Bad camera especially in dark rooms/places
Can run pretty hot on demanding tasks
Really slippery phone, case is mandatory
OxygenOS is trash
Slow wifi when bluetooth is on
No 5ghz frequency of wifi
Finger print sensitive
>>
>>58006449
Just jailbreak it?
>>
Nexus 6
+Great design (IMO)
+Comfy dimple on the back
+Specs and perfomance still hold up
+Still gets official updates
+You can get it for pretty cheap nowadays (got mine for 200$)
+BIG screen, god-tier for movies and media overall, I got used to it in no time
+Front facing speakers, same as above
: Camera is nothing special
- Forced encryption (can be easily fixed though)
- Will soon be abandoned by Google
- Back is a fingerprint magnet if you have the midnight blue one (I have the white one and it's not nearly as noticeable)
- AMOLED screen = inevitable burn-in, if you look for it you can notice it
- For such a big screen, the DPI is ridiculous, everything is too big (this can easily be fixed too)
- Battery wasn't great to begin with and it's starting to get a bit worse
- Looks like you have a brick on your pocket if you wear slim or skinny jeans
>>
>>58006718
Also forgot:
- no MicroSD slot or swappable battery
+ cheapest model is 32gb so it's not that bad
>>
Samsung Galaxy Note 5

+Thank god it's not the Note 7
+Great visibility in bright environments
+S-Pen
+Good DPI
+Still gets frequent OS updates
+Good (but not great) peripheral support

-No expandable storage
-After 12 months, battery life can be very fucky (all day or sometimes two hours)
-Single bottom speaker is very easy to cover up
-Bezels slightly too small or screen edge too sensitive (such that I cannot practically use this phone without a case, and holy shit I never thought I would complain about small bezels)
-They removed the IR blaster in this iteration
-Occasionally runs hot to the touch when the display is on for more than 30-45 minutes straight.
-Too heavy for most car dash mounts (and I commute a lot)

Thinking of scaling down and getting a Blackberry Classic when this phone finishes its tenure. Any anons want to weigh in on that one?

iPhone 6S
Pros:
>camera that takes the photo I want 90% of the time
>small...although i wish i had known the SE was going to come out a few months later as the 6S doesn't really allow one handed use
>far better speaker and voice calls than my nexus 4
>iOS is efficient as fuck. i easily get into a 2nd day on one charge if i need to
>well integrated within the Apple ecosystem

Cons:
>16gb base "forced" me to pay the $100 premium for 64gb
>antenna lines and camera are bullshit
>the sides barely give you anything to grab onto from a flat surface
>proprietary charging port instead of USB-Type-C

All in all, it's does what I ask of it and that's all that matters.
>>

I also have an S4 so I guess I'll just add onto that list.

+Somewhat durable
+Itsy bitsy teeny weeny bezels, especially considering when this thing debuted
: There is a DAC, but it's shit
-shit battery life
-don't even think of gaming
-more than half of the storage space is taken up by the bloatware and TouchWiz
-there is a micro SD slot, yes, but only a small minority of apps can actually be moved. Not all of them.
-slow, laggy. even for everyday tasks

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

+Beautiful design
+Sharp, vibrant, 5.5 inch screen
+Expandable Storage
+Long-ass battery life
+Edge screen feature is nice for quick app access and other things. Well-supported on the Play store as well.
+Incredibly sharp camera

- Edge screen makes it easy to accidentally activate screen controls when you don't want to
- Design is extremely thin, flat, big, and glossy and thus hard to hold onto sometimes
- All-glass back means you're taking a big gamble by not putting a case on it
-Non-ambidextrous charging port (micro-USB)

If you want to fix it, root it and change the max clock to something more reasonable, and change the max thermal before it throttles to something lower. You'll lose some speed but you'll keep your phone.
>>
Moto G4 (not plus)
Good
>Battery life is good
>Screen looks good
>Good speed for my basic-as-fuck usage habits
>MicroSD
>Stock ROM is really light, only a few small additions
>Rooting was a fucking joke - Motorola straight-up gives you instructions to unlock the bootloader
(Note my use of "good" a lot; it isn't bad, but you won't be blown away either.)

Bad
>5.5" is awkward
>Non-removable battery
>The reason I jumped from stock ROM to CM13 is the stock one started having weird issues with freezing, and gestures no longer working.
>No notification LED, just a stupid always-on display

S7 flat (Snapdragon)

+ Camera is great
+ SD card
+ Water resistant
+ Nice to hold
+ 5.2" display - not too big but not too small
+ Band 12, good reception
+ Quick Charge 2.0

: Fingerprint scanner is good but you need to know how to use it
: Camera sharpens too much, has a purple tint on the edges in very, very low light
: Speaker is mediocre (trade-off for water resistance)
: Micro USB - can be good or bad
+ AMOLED screen

- battery life - hit 3 hours SoT no matter what, have 20% standby on idle, in Doze over an 8 hour period
- no good screen protectors
- software - TouchWiz is still bloated and slow
- performance leaves a lot to be desired, frequent hangs and stutters
- price
- locked bootloader, no unlocking it without tripping Knox and no stable root
- Samsung emojis/fonts you can't change cuz Samsung only allows you to pick fonts that are signed by then
- locked down OS, everything has to be verified and signed by Samsung
- looks like shit, even with a theme and Good Lock
- missing features stock Android has, like the expanded battery graph and (recently added) no "Just Once" menu
- Samsung's own apps along with Google's, double apps and Samsung pushes their services way too hard
- fragile

wew lad. Even my s4 has a 1080p display. I'll probably get a s5 for the better screen tech and removable battery/sd card slot. hopefully there are cheap used ones around.
>>
>>58020665
Mines got removable battery 2800mah i think and msd slot. I had a gs5 but it has screen burn in so i like ips displays
>>
>>58020717
That's not too bad then. does it look bad being 720p?
>>
>>58020731
Nah its bright and stuff and looks good as it has 280 dpi lol but no fast charging.

Oh I have a few more complaints to add to those
>newest versions of OS break Bluetooth almost completely
>trying to make a call through my head unit when the screen is off will brick it and force restart
>doesn't allow screen to wake up with tasker
>doesn't recognize bluetooth play buttons if no app has been launched
>doesn't work well with AR.Drone flight software
>unreliable 4G with the poopoo 800mhz shittenna

I love it, but I need to go back to CM12 or earlier because this is just shit right now, fucking pooinloos can't code a fucking OS to work like everyone elses.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active
+Display is colorful
+Expandable storage
+Removable battery
+Still performs very well despite its age
+Good phone for guys with small hands/women without being tiny
+Hardware buttons
+Durable as all fuck, nothing will break with a drop. You can toss it across the room with moderate strength and it won't even care.
+Weighted corners ensures it never hits the floor on the glass side

-Cameras are bad, especially the front camera
-SUPER QUIET. If you use this phone as an alarm clock, you will need special extra-loud ringtones to actually wake you.
-Tends to complain about the battery cover and USB cover even when they're fine.
-Prone to overheating

I'm pleased with my purchase, even if I bought it when it was brand spanking new and was super expensive. Samsung made me loyal, despite all the touchjizz. It has all I demand out of a phone, except for those fucking quiet speakers.
>>
Samsung S3

+Going strong for 4 years, got it for $200 in 2012
+Rooted in less than 30 seconds, never experienced touchwizz
+Extremely stable on AOKP rom
+Quoted as being "the iphone of android" because how popular it was. 10,001 accessories.
+Wi-fi tethering
+Runs PSX and N64 well
+MHL out
+USB OTG
+Micro SD card support (surprisingly hard to come by on new phones nowadays)
:Still worth a little bit of money
-Vibration hammer half died a month ago and is very weak
-Sometimes the charging port doesn't work for power or data but I have airdroid and an external battery wall charger

Very satisfied

Pixel 128GB

+great camera
+already got 7.1.1
+battery life
+weight is perf
+doubles as a vape
+google fi is good for being cheap ass like me (lol could have gotten a nexus 5X for $250)
-price (should be at least $100 cheaper)
-can't drop in the toilet
-glass on the back of the phone is fuckin dumb
-can't put a laggy sd card in it
>>
Redmi 3
+ decent specs
+ 5" screen so very compact
+ dual SIM
+ microSD slot
+ 4000mAh battery
+ Officially supported by CM 14.1
+ IR blaster
: average display
: average sound quality from speakers
- camera sucks donkey balls even on MIUI
- no NFC
- lags when playing heavy games
>>
iPhone 6S

+Smooth
+Loads of aftermarket accessories
+Battery is surprisingly decent considering it's only 1715mAh (5-9 hours SOT)
+Tweaking is extremely easy when jailbroken
+Good build quality, buttons don't rattle unlike on my HTC M8
+Can enrage people on /g/ easily
+Unexpectedly durable, fell multiple times face-down onto cobblestone with only a few scuffs (but got a hairline crack when I dropped it onto its corner from knee height, in a case - still covered by Apple though)
-Mediocre speaker, but still better than you'd expect
-Mediocre camera
-No microSD but you shouldn't be buying a base model iPhone anyway
-Battery is shit in cold weather
-Bezels
-Signal issues, but I've only been getting those while jailbroken so I don't think that really counts

Moto E 2015:
The pros:
- Battery is amazing, 2390 mah but lasts me two days when using it casually.
- android 6.0 and waiting for updates (probably I'll install the nougat nightly build from cyanogenmod soon).
- 4.5" screen is just the best size for me. Easy to use with one hand, best size to text when horizontal.
- Really cheap phone.
- Allows for a sd card.
- Speaker in the front, though the quality is not that good.
Cons:
- Screen is not comparable to an amoled. - Also, it has a 540p display. 720p would have been perfect for the size.
- Camera is bad.
- 1gb RAM in 2016.

Nexus 5

+ Looks incredibly good imo
+ Decent build quality
+ Snappy as a motherfucker even in 2013+3
+ Community support, shitloads of roms and mods
+ Great bang for buck ratio
: Camera is kind of meh, but I love OIS
: Screen is good, but colors are subpar even for an LCD. I wish it was AMOLED
: I wish it had a microSD slot but since I got the 32GB version I can live without one
- 2300mAh is not enough battery for 5" 1080p and S800, barely lasts through a day
- poor audio quality (both loudspeaker and headphone jack) compared to my old i9300.

Pretty happy with it overall.

Moto G4 Play

+ Very cheap (cost me the equivalent of 125 dollars, currently going for 99)
+ Doesn't look cheap
+ Sturdy, nice design
+ Debloated stock android
+ Dual SIM or SIM+SD slot up to 128 GB
+ Perfect size for a smartphone
+ Feels comfortable to hold due to back case being very grippy
+ NFC
+ Comes with its own turbocharger, dead to 100% in 80 minutes
+ Removable battery
+ Front speaker
+ Amazing battery life, 4 days standby, 7 hours SoT despite 2800 mAh battery
+ Optimized as all fuck, the software is basically what carries this phone
+ - No fingerprint scanner
+ - Micro USB
- Bad camera quality
- Bad speaker quality
- Mediocre specs although fair for its price
- On-screen buttons
- Not water resistant
- Not sure if gorilla glass 3 or something else
- Meh display, 720p
- Just got RR Nougat and CM14 beta builds this week despite existing for half a year already
- Notification LED disabled in stock rom unlike previous Moto G's
- Will only get 1 major update (N 7.0) and 3 security patches more
- Only the most basic features; accelerometer and proximity
- Almost no cases for it
- No IR blaster, not that I was seriously expecting it from such a cheap phone

9/10 would recommend.

Dude, wait till you switch to a new phone. You'll be amazed how slow S3 was even with AOKP. I had one before and it's an amazing phone (as long as you get rid of touchjizz) but new Moto G's or my Nexus 5 are just so much faster.

OnePlus Two

+ Great sized screen
+ Large internal storage
+ Good battery life
+ Good connectivity (4g+Wifi)
+ Good internal speakers
+ Back camera is good
+ Very good grip on the graphite cover

- Fingerprint scanner is really hit and miss in detecting whether it's actually my fingerprint
- Fingerprint scanner thinks anything remotely touching it is an attempt to open the phone, as a result if you have tight trousers on and the screen faces your leg it will think you're trying to open the phone with a failed fingerprint attempt once every few seconds (battery life went from 100% to under 20% in less than an hour of being in my pocket)
- If I play anything else with sound while listening to music, it will stop my music and I'll have to reopen my music app to begin playing it again
- Front camera is terrible
- OS randomly decides to restart the phone
- The phone autosleeps the screen when you're on a call and the phone is to your ear, however the lock button no longer hangs up the call, so to hang up any call you need to wait at least 5 seconds more than necessary
- Gets really hot when doing some mundane things like installing apps
- Literally fucking no one in the universe will have a OnePlus charger so if you're going anywhere for longer than a day make sure you have it
- Google

- I wish I just bought an iPhone instead

I'm right on the edge, I certainly believe you. When the charge goes, it goes for weeks at a time and I have to swap batteries with the wall charger, and literally the second I am looking up new phones it comes back.

My choices are going to be one of the chinese ones, not due to price but because that's where the power is. They can all be rooted and have microsd card support. meanwhile the flagship google and samsung phones are $600+ and you don't get any of this. gsmarena literally made the sale fall through, I was on the edge for an S5 and S6 and it started hurling non-removable battery and no microsd card... what are you paying for?
>>
i'll also add:

- buttons randomly become unresponsive once every week or so, needing to restart the phone randomly and sometimes will do the "android is updating" process which means you can't use your phone for ~15 minutes for no reason
>>
>>58014885

-can't seem to find a fucking music player that works completely
-CM14 doesn't work

>Do we have the same phone? I thought it only lit up when it senses movement after being inactive for a while

Er - that's what I meant. Ambient display, not literally always-on. Either way, it's a shitty replacement for a simple notification LED in my opinion.

My model doesn't have dual SIM either, which is why I didn't mention it. It isn't featured in all models. However, mine DID come with a cable separate from the charging brick. Kind of odd.
