Hello /guys. Thank you anon who directed me to shodan.me but I don't know what book to pick. Any recommendations?

I don't really recommend any Java books currently. The language changed a lot with 8, and will change more with the release of Java 9.

In fact I'd suggest you'd stick with Oracle's tutorials who are more up to date.

Oh thanks. The anon said that I shouldn't learn from tutorials and pick a book.
Any other tutorials suggestions?
>>
>>57999449
Not really.
I mean, the last decent book on Java I've read was Java Actually, but that was for Java 5, and essentially started by teaching you the C-ish subset of java and bolting Objects on top of that.

Should I start from here?

Core Java 1 and 2 by Cay Hortsmann

Besides from the official tutorials I'd pick "Core Java" by Horstmann
Those books on shodan.me look seriously outdated.
>>
oracle's tutorial to learn the basics

bloch's 'effective java' to learn good java practices

sedgewick's 'algorithms' has it data structures and algorithms written in java
>>
>>57999531
I think it's a decent place to start.

But I wouldn't discount this anon's suggestion either:
>>57999537
I haven't read that book, and it might be good.
>>
>>57999553
Thanks. Just downloaded the books.
>>
is "Thinking in Java" any good?
>>
>>58000587
Sadly it's outdated.
The fourth and last edition deals with Java 5
We are currently at Java 8 and soon Java 9
There were quite some changes.
Some parts are still valid though.
