Is AR even a bigger meme than VR? Will it ever work?
>>
AR is much more likely to succeed. VR is way too limited.
>>
is magic leap a scam?
>>
>>57986171
ur mum's a scam, bruv
>>
>>57986399

No, seriously, it's a scam. Almost all of their videos are CGI bullshit.
>>
>>57985709
no way there's an elephant that small

gotta be photoshopped
>>

No, it's a scam
>>

>no way there's an elephant that small
not sure if retarded or a troll. i'll go with retarded.
>>
>>57985709
They're based on nearly-identical technologies. AR basically *needs* VR to solve the occlusion problem, where you can see through superimposed images. The only reasonable path to working around the occlusion problem is to implement AR using VR headsets with low-latency stereo cameras.
>>
>>57986847
Not all AR is the same. Something like CastAR doesn't have an occlusion problem because it uses a mat.
>>
>>57986908
True. I guess I was thinking of something like the OP's image.

How do AR devices make black color??? Think about it for a second... it's fucking impossible to do.

That's a shit-tier AR tech. It's basically DOA. It's nothing more than a parlor gimmick at this point. It will never take off. Valve was right to get rid of it.

oculus rift is basically DOA too
>>
All I want is children card game with hologram monsters
>>
>>57987097
have you even seen the demos of it? resolution is way too coarse and you'll need a giant table to even make it half-ass usable. I think this tech is gonna flop hard.

>>57987122
yeah. Oculus is dead. this is why Oculus CEO resigned today.

HTC Vive is better than Oculus and they don't even have Camack coding for them. Oculus fucked up bad.
>>
>>57987122
Vive isn't though

t. just gonna play doom on my vive
>>
>>57987320
Sounds fun as hell. Are there any motion sickness problems playing a normal FPS with it?
>>
I've developed shit for the hololens for my job

Infinitely more potential than VR. Once they get to a much bigger FOV these are going to be what smartphones are today
>>
>>57987216
I've seen videos of CastAR demos and some of them look so much more amazing than any other AR/VR tech. Hololens looks cool too though.

Oculus doesn't have AR and it literally makes people sick. VR will never be more than a niche product at best.
>>
>>57987370
>Both AR and VR will never be more than a niche product at best.
ftfy

and I think VR has a better chance than AR. good AR is simply a decade away. none of the solutions we have right now work well.
>>
>>57986745
>not sure
bad news anon...

You can bring your animated waifu or ponies with you everywhere, it will make real life more like the internet which is awesome I think
>>
>>57986745
are you 12?
>>
>>57985709
Video AR (camera-to-screen) kind of works but it's shit compared to optical AR (overlay + see-through), and the latter is years away.

>>57986171
Certainly yes. Too much computing power required in a small box, too much latency involved - you are racing against human muscles in VR and against human cognitive abilities in AR, guess which one is harder.

>Certainly yes.

They've built an actual prototype.

The problem is that it's too expensive to put into mass production.

So not exactly a scam. Blame the investors for not asking more questions.
