How long would /g/ survive in Stallman-Mode?

No X or graphical display at all and only using a shitty little laptop.
>>
Tmux, irssi, elinks, mpd, ncmpcpp, vim/nano, pine/alpine/mutt... I'd be fine.

Probably read more and watch movies and shows less.
>>

Long, which is a shame.

Naah, absolutely not.
>>
i might actually break my crippling internet addiction if my computer was set up like a gay 80's pos terminal
>>
how would I check my emails

how would I do literally anything

emacs

Same thing here. Probably also the reason I'd never do it.

I'd last all of five minutes before breaking and going back to my Happy Box.

Alpine, Mutt, etc.

Is there anything you cant do with terminal?

Actually, being so bored you leave the house and get out in the world would get you a GF.
>>
>>57978017
i could do it, i learned Linux on slackware so i wont have much of a problem, just that i prefer a GUI for its graphical comfy goodness

stallman literally states on his website that he uses xorg if he requires it, alought he prefers to use cli alternatives.
>>
>>57978581
> literally
Are you sure? I read and thought he meant it in an abstract way
>>
If you spend most of your time at the command line then that laptop is probably more than enough. He used to use a OLPC for Christ's sake.
>>
>>57978017
the correct answer is:
>depends on foot cheese supply
>>
>>57978260
>mfw I want to leave but I'm here forever
>>
>>57978017
Stallman says he does use a gui for some programs.
>>
It would like to think I could have such a simple device as my only computer. I mean, here I am with a giant screen and a massive case, 7 button mouse, mechanical keyboard, and I feel like a total tool since I essentially do nothing with it that I couldn't do on a small old laptop. It is a simple way to do it, but sadly I'm too deep in to the memes to give up now.

is there any reason not to use a gui except autism and elitism

>Ok I'll start walking there in October, it's not so close hehe!
>wtf are you retarded
>No I'm Richard Stallman
>>
>>57982379
Personally, I find it faster and more convenient to type things into the command line. I hate having to drag a mouse around and navigate through menus. Even worse if you're on a laptop (Assuming it doesn't have a clit mouse).
>>
>>57982393
lmao
>>
>>57982379
sometimes you can do shit you learned doing first in CLI than in GUI.

also there are cases when the CLI program is more verbose than the GUI equivalent and you need the extra info.
>>
>>57978131
Good luck watching a movie without any video acelleration. It's like watching an old picture slideshow from the 20's.
>>
>>57982379
Yes. It is easier to quickly google how to do something very specific that you know a cli program can do, then to go looking for some shitty, perhaps non-existent program to do that very specific job you had in mind.
>>
I was considering going somewhat Stallman-mode. I don't really need more than that, I think. I would use a graphical display though.
>>
>>57983932
I'd use X as well, but only because the lack of hardware acceleration would make the framebuffer shit its pants with this resolution.
