I did read some fragments of this book for a course on declarative programming, but quite honestly Scheme and functional programming doesn't convince me all that much.
I'd rather stick to imperative procedural programming in the C language.
This book seems quite pretentious actually.

SICP isn't supposed to convince you about anything regarding function programming.
In fact chapter 1 it pretty much outlines how Tree Recursion is terrible and iterative recursive methods are far better because they're stateful
