>Piracy is not a victimless crime
but piracy has a victim
smoking weed has none
Don't ever smoke weed with your friends and watch streamed content!
pretty obvious to see piracy has a victim: the content creators

>my god. we'll have to start paying actors in 7 figure salaries for <4 months work
what is this France?!
There's too many grey areas
Like, if I own a movie on dvd or blu-ray and then "pirate" it just so I can have the file on my computer and not have to worry about annoying discs, did I really steal it? I bought the fucking movie already. Same thing for shit that I've watched on cable that I pay every month for which in turn pays the salaries of the actors on cable, is that stealing? I'm already paying for the programming.
Also, if I download a movie, watch it, and then delete it, is that stealing? How is that different from checking a movie out at a library which I can do for free? Or the same idea but with a textbook? Im not keeping it, just using it for a while.
When we were younger (or maybe when I was younger, Im fucking old now) and would record songs we heard on the radio onto cassette tapes, was that piracy or stealing? I dont remember every hearing anything bad about that. When I was younger I heard BTO play at a concert with about 10000 other people from a parking lot right by the stadium. We didn't pay for tickets, but could hear it clear as day and had an awesome time doing it, were we stealing?

Why do people still create content when pirating exists?

Making backups while not distributing is legally protected.
Copyright infringement is not a crime. It is a civil violation.
This fucking thread again.
>implying someone deserves to get paid because they made something
>if someone buys it from you, you deserved that money
>if someone doesn't, you never lost money; you simple never earned it
It can't be any fucking simpler.

Your birth had three victims.
piracy hasnt hurt shit since the 1980s
except the bottom line of people who already have more money than sense
