That one. There's nothing worth doing that you currently cannot do with a Palm.

What exactly is the difference between PDA and smartphone?
>>
>>57970526
Absolutely nothing. Some PDAs didn't have cell connectivity or couldn't take calls, but the ones that could were proto-smartphones
>>
>>57969623
Your smartphone

The III Series is a bit bulky. I have a IIIc and it's pretty nice but I got sick of carrying it due to the bulk/weight.

Palm M500 is where it's at if you want a monochrome display. The V series is also nice but they have no SD expansion and are obviously less powerful.

If you want a color display, the M505, M515, or any of the Tungsten series will be fun to play with and practical for lugging around. I'm partial to the original Tungsten T because I just love the style and really wanted one back in the day but never got one.

How come phone companies can't make screens and software that work as well as pda's did. I found PDA had practical use but a smartphone is just a toy.

An iPod Touch. If you're like me and don't want to pay the data plan just to make fucking phone calls when pre-paid phones work just as well.
>>
>>57976490
Fucking nice.
I had a 4700 too, with 256MB RAM mod , slide out keyboard case and extended battery, 1GHz overclock and that was slightly over a decade ago!
Multi boot WinCE and Linux, good times.
>>
>>57978715
>256MB RAM
you mean flash card
>>
>>57979018
Kek no, I actually mean 256MB RAM, as in, desoldered the 64MB chip and replaced it with 256MB one, it was a real popular mod back then.

Also in the end I remember having a 8GB SD with a 4GB CF card in it, plenty of storage for the time.

Palm pro. Greatest PDA ever made, and I use mine every day.
>>
>>57974137
They're cancer if you use them for social media and games and other stupid shit. It is what you make of it.
>>
>>57981372
No they are generally less usable than PDAs were. Bloat, huge UI elements because the touch targets have to be so big, tracking and spying.

Society has made a mistake.

>>
>>57981610

Yeah the Palm notes, calendar and contacts are so much better than what I've had on any smartphone; how can they keep getting them so wrong?

>>
>>57988128
I'd have argued that in ought 6 against things like Sidekicks, but not today
>>
>>57988167
what does that have to do with doing more than browsing facebook and playing angry birds? By virtue of being on the internet you are being spied on. Every single grocery store now uses software that tracks you and your shopping/spending habits through the cameras.

And further more, what do you do that's so interesting that anyone will give any fucks whatsoever what you do? Do you actually think its a person sitting there looking at the shit you are are doing? No. Its an algorithm(s) that just amalgamates data as a whole for marketing purposes (individual data is irrelevant by itself).

You get "spied on" more when you walk down the street.

But ya, list one thing a pda can do that a smartphone can't, I'm waiting

Nondeterministic PDAs are normally smaller than deterministic ones, but more complex to construct.
Do you have problems understanding what's going on in Nondeterministic ones? If so, go for a deterministic PDA.
