The lighting on the camera made the LEDs look kind of pink but I have them set to white. I know LEDs are frowned upon here but whatever.

Looking to add another RAM kit and upgrade the GPU in the near future.

>>57969253
Looks good but PSU seems a little overkill.

>>57968553
Micro atx boards look kind of funny in mid tower cases but other than that it looks really good and clean. Idk how you deal with the stock cooler. I had mine for a year and it drove me nuts.

>>57967258
Looks good but not sure if that case fan on the bottom is doing anything. It's just blowing air at the GPU, which has exhaust fans that are blowing against it.

How's my airflow look bros? I'm new to pc's

My case originally came with one intake at the front, one exhaust at the back plus my psu intake from the bottom. I bought the 2 corsair fans, moved one fan to the front as a second intake, and put one at the top for exhaust. My temps overall are cooler now but hows it look for positive/negative airflow? Also I wasn't sure about the top exhaust position, I could move it further right but I thought maybe it'd be taking away air from the cpu fan intake and make those temps higher? I'm not sure
>>
>>57985166
If the sidepanel has holes you can place the top exhaust fan next to/below the GPU. Otherwise you must be trolling because that's obviously as good as it gets without using Noctua's industrial grade fans.
>>
Building my dad a PC for Christmas since his laptop is shitting the bed. Using some spare parts I had lying around and new parts that are still on the way.
Doesn't have to be a complete powerhouse given most he does is browse Facebook and watch YouTube.

Specs:
NZXT Source 210 Case
Athlon II x2 260
6GB DDR3L RAM (x1 4GB; x1 2GB; Could throw in both the 2GB sticks for 4GB instead, but doubt he'd notice any performance difference)
M4N68T-M V2 Motherboard
Nvidia GT 510 (waiting on the aftermarket cooler since it's fan died)
ADATA Ultimate SU800 128GB SSD
SeaSonic SSR-350ST 80+ Bronze

Anything else I should do with this thing, I have maybe $40 left.

He had somewhat a clue about how they work and whatnot, but he doesn't know how to build them or get deep into the guts with software.

So what's wrong with building my father a PC?
You make it sound like a bad thing.
>>
>>57987992
Not to be rude, but I wouldn't want that for free. My dad put something similar in the basement a couple of years ago because it was obsolete.
>>
>>57988050
So just because it's a couple years old, that means that it's completely unusable?

Not to be rude, but Christ, what kind of upscale entitled life have you lived, bud?

Does that mean I should toss my PC with an i7 920 out on the bin and try to dig up $500 I don't have to get some new shiny?

It may be old, but that doesn't mean it's completely unusable.
>>
>>57988177
>So just because it's a couple years old, that means that it's completely unusable?
Not completely unusable, but it probably won't do more than basic tasks, that's why I said I hope he only needs it for basic tasks.
>>
>>57988225
From my original post:
> Doesn't have to be a complete powerhouse given most he does is browse Facebook and watch YouTube.
>>
>>57988296
All my dad did what checking emails and watching youtube, he threw the Athlon PC out because one day he noticed it was complete ass for editing some videos he downloaded.
>>
>>57988379
My dad doesn't edit videos or anything, he's 55 and all he does is listen to music, watch Youtube, and browse Facebook so he can keep in contact with his military buddies.
Alongside that checking news, weather, traffic before going to work, and whatnot.
Nothing he needs an absolute powerhouse of a PC for.

Going to Microcenter today to pick up a Strix 1070 OC. Lately I've been lusting over Broadwell-E CPU's but I know I don't need it. Tell me not to do it, /g/entooman.
>>
>>57998815
>Strix

>>
>>57998821
I meant tell me not to go X99. I'm pretty set on the ASUS 1070, most of the benchmarks I've looked at consistently place it as a very good overclocker.
>>
>>57998846
No go X99 that's pretty gud, strix is not a good overclocker and the failure is absolutely massive
The GPU division of ASUS is completely shit and will never help you if your card dies (which a large majority have their fan bearings break or the blades chip off)
ASUS motherboards are god tier
Their GPUs are pretty good
Their Strix line is complete dogshit meme trash but popular because it tends to be the only thing that's not sold out (for a reason) and DUDE LEDs
>>
>>57998815
>>57998846
If you're going with it because it's the cheapest you should know that there is a reason for that

You better be memeing me, I was gonna upgrade my ASUS R9 280X to a Strix 1070 very soon.
>>
>>57999374
There is a big difference between an ASUS branded GPU and a Strix banded GPU, although they are both asus they both have very different failure rates and whatnot
ASUS branded cards are fine
Strix are shit

Go Gigabyte anon, I personally own an EVGA card but I wish I went Gigabyte.
>>
>>57999374
Just hold out anon, everyone who has owned (not currently owning) a strix card will tell you the same thing. The only people who will defend them are the people who currently own them and who will soon ditch them.
I've had a strix 960 break on me twice and the second time although I was still within the return period they would not accept it and if they did they would only send me back a refurbished card
Two of my close friends have had his strix 980ti break and the other one a 970, same situation with the customer support fucking them over

ROG and Strix are just marketing buzzwords to cater to gaymers. What would realistically be the huge difference between the white ASUS "Dual GTX1070" and the black with leds ASUS "ROG Strix GTX1070"?

>>

>>Not gonna accept anecdotal evidence
>>Gives anecdotal evidence
My anecdotal "evidence" contradicting the other anecdotal "evidence" is why I'm not gonna accept it as actual evidence, anon.

Sadly, virtually all cards are DUDE LED cards nowadays. Oh well, seems like I'll stay away from Strix then for now.

Is there any reason to get a Gigabyte Gaymen G1 over the Windforce? The only difference is the base clock speed, but I can surely OC the cheaper card to match the performance, right?
>>
>>57977306
you know thats why you just go out and buy a new case. you don't even need an expensive case. something like the $45 cooler master 912 would be plenty. but then again i guess that wouldn't fit your itx meme you're currently raging a hard-on, on.
>>
>>57999802
The G1 gaymen cards have god tier cooling, the windforce cards are pretty great in that regard as well and yes it will be easy to achieve the same clock speed, even more
>>
>>57999814
380t does the job, fits any card and h100i v2 unlike the 350d

>>
>>57999838

>>
>>57999855
I'm getting over it

Going for the black version. Simply sacrificing aesthetic for cooling performance. I could also get one of those lian li but I don't know much of them
>>
>>57999838
ok? i was talking about being absolutely no excuse to do what he did because he could easily go out and buy a case for as low as $45 that will be able to house his entire build with ease. even if that requires moving over to a atx sized case if hes that cash constraint. zero need to butcher a case like that.
>>
>>57999911
It's entirely true

But then he would probably have to give up the whole mini thing and 380t let's you keep that

It's true though people don't stop and think enough for building these things. They probably feel clever and practical for being able to make these disgusting modifications

>>
>>57969295
While I agree most CLCs are shitty memetek, there are some exceptions. It all depends on use case I guess.

I run a stock clock 4790 with a Cryorig H5, and it's wonderful... With my 8350 on the other hand (which I mildly overclock) I'd burn down the house on air... I tried a few AIOs to see what all the fuss was about, currently I run a Cryorig A40 and it's performing much cooler and quieter than everything else I've put in it. The little fan on top of the block also helps cool my VRM which tends to cook while overclocking with other units.

Just my two cents.

Phanteks TC-14PE. Normally there's a top fin with the logo but I broke both of them off from reinstalling it so many times.

Honestly don't know how much I could recommend it, it may just be the stock thermal paste but the temps aren't confidence inspiring to me. I'm gonna try some TX-4 with it and see if it helps, otherwise I may end up going liquid.
