my 2y/o Oneplus One's touch screen is smashed, no response. is the Three worth it? no idea what else to get at that price
>>
I'm currently torn between few models:

>OP3T

+plastic'y but good looks overall
+super nice OS that is about to be updated
+great screen quality
+physical silent mode control buttons
+6gigs of ram in base model
+fastest charging
-smallest screen
-smallest battery
-more expensive than mi5s plus

>Xiaomi mi5s plus

+bigger 5.7 screen
+larger battery
+cheapest
+IR blaster
-solid but boring looks (grey is my model of choice)
-OS isn't bad but not as cool as in OP3t
-some reports about shitty fingerprint scanner
-less ram in base model

>Xiaomi mi note 2

+I subjectively find silver model to be most beautiful phone ever made
+those curves
+largest battery
+5.7 screen
-most expensive, I'd have to wait for pricedrop
-silver model not in stock yet
-screen is reported to be quite shit
-specs pretty much same as mi5s plus, but price is much higher

Help me pick guys. Which would you pick given choice? Did I miss something? How stupid is it to drool over mi note 2?

I don't play any games nor do I have normies apps like Facebook snapchat etc installed. For me it's really good and it charges really fast. Check the pic and I'll also post a graph

About 52.6 GB if I'm not mistaken

I ordered it when it was out of stock so for me it was 4 weeks (it came 4 days early). I didn't bother returning it and getting the 3T

Btfo in what way?
No chinkphone has a camera or the support to compare to the pixel.
>>
>>57967482
I've been looking for something for a few weeks now and I've seen the Pixel rated as either "omg best phone ever" or just middle of the pack. Most year reviews say the S7 Edge is probably the best but I'm incredibly bored of mine and really dislike the plastic build and the way it feels slick and slippery in my hand. Want something metal and with corners that I can grip easily.

I've considered a chink phone, but I've been burned more than once by shitty Chinese/Korean products in the past so I'm a bit hesitant on that.
>>
>>57967526
If you want to pay that much for better camera its your call
>>
I got a really cheap Vodafone-brand smartphone a few weeks ago, intending it to be pretty disposable. Expected it to be a piece of shit. Turns out it is the best phone I've had to date, and has really good build quality. Don't bother ever spending more than €100 on a phone, its not worth it.
>>
>>57967500
I assume you'll be getting the 3T right? So it should be even better than this in theory. I don't think you'll regret getting either. I was originally holding onto my nexus 4 to get the pixel but I literally see no reason to pay extra 400€ for it. Oneplus is the new nexus
>>
>>57967588
Ultra 7?
>>
>>57967552
>better camera
>better support for both hardware and software
>longer support than a chink piece of shit
The pixel will outperform any xiaomi just by shipping with a superior rom to begin with and having a massive variety of custom ones to choose from.

Your call if you want to be a cheap cunt though.
>>
>>57966196
Which one should i buy
Lg G4 or Samsung J7?
>>
>>57967927
Neither.
>>
>>57967864
>longer support than a chink piece of shit
I can just buy a new one in a year and have still spent less then buying a pixel.
>>
>>57967977
And now you've got your hands on 2 inferior devices.

My nexus 5 got 3 years old security updates and I didn't have to waste my time shopping for a new phone every year.

If you don't want to pay the premium for a pixel, then don't, but don't think it's comparable to chink shit when it's got the most optimised rom for any Android phone on the market.

Pixel = Android flagship.

I picked up a Robin because it was cheap on Amazon.

For reference, I'm migrating from a Galaxy S3 running jelly bean (T-Mobile).

Overall I'd say that i'm very satisfied so far, had it 3 days now. I really like the A E S T H E T I C S and it seems to be able to do everything that I'd like it to.

I typically don't store that many images on my phone nor do I like to have many applications installed, so I'm not sure if I'll ever even reach the 32 gb mark before the cloud service kicks in, but I guess it's a nice-to-have backup. I'm also inherently distrustful of anything marked with 'cloud' as a feature.

While it's definitely a decent phone, it's not without flaws.

The most notable one is that if you have the volume set to max and you try to use the aux port, it will pause your music seemingly at random. The workaround for this is to leave your music a tad lower than max and it won't do this. Supposedly going to be fixed in the update to android 7, but they've known about this for months from what I've seen on the web when I was looking for a fix and haven't done anything about it yet.

I noticed that there was a click when I would put down the phone, sounded like something was loose near the camera. Turns out that it's a known, normal thing that the auto-focus mechanical parts cause this rattling. Still, it's not great to have things make rattling sounds.

People say in reviews that the camera is not so hot, but I suppose that's all relative. It seems better than my S3, so I'm happy at least. Your mileage may vary.

Having the USB-C charger is cool and all, and it charges really fast with the specialty charger brick, but now I have to switch over my spare cables to USB-C as well, which I had none of previously (mark that one as progress).

Overall, pretty happy.

remember to like and subscribe :^)

Moto G4 Play, good stopgap phone, i use it as a daily driver because i live in a shitty country.

This thing may be low end as fuck but so far it has never dissapointed me, i play games, listen to music and torrent at the same time and it doesnt shit itself or overheats like my old Note 4, the battery drains quite fast this way though, but with moderate use like only reading/browsing/manga7clover and music or watching videos/playing games it lasts the entire day, not that it matters since it comes with an special turbocharger (80 minutes for full charge) and it has fully stock android.

My only complaint is the camera, i swear the front camera takes better photos than the one on the back even at optimal light, i dont really mind since i use it maybe 3 times a month but you may care about the quality of your crossdressing selfies.

And with regard to the cost of the Xiaomi Mi 5C, we have practically no doubt that it will be much lower than indicated now online. Earlier leaks specify the amount of 999 yuan (about $ 144 ), but we are inclined to the figure of 1099-1199 yuan ( $ 159- $ 173 ), because the smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5C should be on the model Redmi Pro Manufacturer hierarchy and should cost at least not less its . These figures are fully justified, even if the novelty will receive a processor Pinecone (8 cores, 2.2 GHz), developed by Xiaomi, which should be less Helio X20 / X25 from MediaTek.

Also, microSD cards have a better life cycle than phones (storage probably has the best life cycle of all hardware), and can be used for applications other than phone storage.

It has a proprietary processor, so you're doomed to run Samsung's own ROM. No stock android. You can still debloat and install modified stock ROMs though.

Just recently got my redmi 4 prime and I'm honestly pretty impressed with this device.

The pros:
- great battery life
- with heavy usage its still able to reach the 10-11h sot
- finger print scanner works pretty well
- build quality for something so cheap is actually amazing, the metal unibody sure feels good
-the audio could use a bit more spicing, when playing the music from the speakers on max volume you can definitely hear some not really pleasant noise
- screen is pretty good. Fine vibrant colors and not over saturated
- no real stutters with the normal day to day usage
- the default browser looks pretty good desu

Now for the cons:
- idk if it's the hardware fault but even though the phone seems to detect that the headphones are plugged in, the sound comes only from one side and it's much more quiet than one would expect. I checked if anything is stuck in the jack and it seems it's perfectly empty. So that's definitely weird. Hopefully it's just some kind of software bug though it most likely seems to be a hardware fault
- games like asphalt 8 seem to catch a little stutters here and there on the high settings though it's just snapdragon 625 so I couldn't expect anything better

That's pretty much all at this point. Will try to upload the photo of sot later.

Anyways let's treat it as some kind of ama about the phone.
>>
>>57981078
It's a common issue, don't be surprised if you also get screen burn-in on the notification bar, if the little glass covering the back camera falls or if the phone overheats when playing games or 1080p videos, that's why we only recommend the Moto G4, Z Play or the G4 Play, sure you get up to 2 GB of extra ram, better camera and a fingerprint sensor with the G4+ but for such a flawed device it's not worth paying ~ $330, you might as well buy a P9 Lite and a 64 GB SD card with that money, shell out 150 dollars more for an HTC 10 or go for a meme chinkphone like the succ or the lelele.

Mind you, these issues also plague the G4, but considering the phone costs like 140 dollars it's worth putting up with all that, the G4P costs even less and doesn't suffer from any of this but it's obviously weaker and the Z Play is just okay for the price, nothing too impressive.

I don't think you can do much better than a Snadpragon 650 SoC for that price if you avoid chink. If you bump your budget to $400 tehre's the iPhone SE and the Axon 7.

Is it a good idea to buy Iphone 6? Are there better better and more reasonable alternatives? I have heard that Iphones are overpriced, but a good friend of mine says they are thrustworthy, secure robust and have good performance

If so, should i go for the Iphone 6 or the Iphone 6+? I have found both the phones quite cheap, and I wonder if it's smart to buy them, or if there are other phones that are cheaper but have better performance.

I'm looking for something preferably under $300 to upgrade to from an old LG I've been living with for the last few years. I don't do much with my phone aside from a few mobages, browsing and watch some videos from time to time.

The big things really is that it would need at least 2GB RAM, android, AT&T compatible and not heat to the point where it could boil water. Heat might be a big factor as it'll probably see use even when charging. I was recommended an S5 or Note 4 but for what I've found them at $200-300 I wonder if I shouldn't just spend a little more for something better.

I looked at the S7 for instance and I've read that while amazing it has a lot of bloatware, can get very hot and unless I get lucky on ebay I'd be $500-600. I don't think I'd need something so powerful but I looked anyways because it's more up to date and future proof for my needs so to speak.

Please assist.

Mi5, zuk z2, xperia X, moto g4+, honor 8, redmi note 3 pro (if you wanna spend even less). Don't buy from samsung. For that price range you will just get shitty samshit phones

Recommend me please. U.S. Verizon Wireless.

Most important:
Size less than 3.25"x6" (the smaller the better). Prefer thin. Resilient (won't crack when I put something heavy on my leg). Long battery life.

Less important: Prefer storage capability (external or otherwise) for music. Has to be able to handle video calls like skype or watching streams.

Least important: I like analog buttons like volume wheels, home buttons, lock/unlock etc. Customization to make it not look like shit. I don't care if the phone looks like shit, but the UI mustn't look like shit.

I'm considering Moto X Play, Moto G4, OnePlus3, LG G5. Open to suggestions.
>>
>>57987515
6/6+ only have 1GB RAM and known issues with the touch screen if you drop it. 6S is more futureproof. But it should be fine for years to come.

>>57986472
I ended up getting an iPhone because there was no other flagship phones that were less than 5".

>>57977146
Windows phones are an awful meme. No apps, and even the OS is buggy and unoptimized now. Can not stress strongly enough the reasons to stay away.

I dont know much about phones, but something seems off.
I had to get a new phone the other day. Its a samsung j3 6.
I fully charged it this morning and half an hour later it went from 100% to 96%.
I went to sleep and woke up and now its at 9% battery left.

I checked the battery screen, and it only lists basic shit, and is only accountable for 20% of the used battery.

is there some sort of break in period with phone batteries or is the bloat really that bad?

pic isnt mine, but its the screen Im looking at so semirelated.

So that's 2 for Honor 8 then. I was looked at what you said and have it between the Honor 8 and Moto G4+.

Honor 8 would take it for me for sure but a lot of the design choices I'm sketchy about. The UI seems odd and the whole thing being glass is somewhat off-putting. I also read that the OS takes up at least half of the RAM.

With the Moto G4+ I feel like the biggest thing I'd be losing out on is the processor power which I think I could live with. I'm using an old LG Escape2 right now from before I knew and gave a shit about this stuff so if this thing can more or less handle what I need then I think anything I pick would. The big thing I heard is that is the thing overheats due to it being 617 Snapdragon.

I'm on the fence and I know Honor 8 is the overall better piece of hardware but I might go Moto still if the thing doesn't have heat issues.

What are your thoughts?
>>
>>57991099
It was /free/, and I have an i7 if I want to do anything.

I already had a moto and I wanted to keep it. My phone provider went out of business and I transferred to the place that was giving free shit.
This was the best option available for free, I dont care about performance.

I'm asking if there is a break in period with the batteries or if I need to debloat, and if so how do I go about doing that? Is rooting required or just more convenient?
>>
>>57991192
Honor 8
better camera.
faster.
lighter/smaller.

G4+
better interface (stock-ish Android).
faster updates (should receive Nougat soon).
Overheats on prolonged use or using the camera or gaymin.

determine whatever matters to you more and suit yourself. we can't choose for you.
>>
>>57991192
I think I'd still go for th honor 8, better processor, better camera, better design. What you could do about the OS using too much RAM is flash a custom rom. And I forgot to list a great phone: zenfone 3
>>
>>57984291
Avoid the LeEco, its fucking horribly optimized for the power it has. The Zuk is pretty good considering its a chinkphone but if you're not a fan of plastic/glass don't get it. RN4 is good for price/power but isn't as powerful as the Zuk.

TL; DR Zuk Z2 is your best choice

I'm running Z5 Compact here, its pretty good, fucking love the fingerprint scanner. The only concern is that it has a tendency to heat up fast, at least mine does, the SonyOS is heavy on the RAM, but there is CM for it, although its unofficial. Its cheaper than the SE, which a lot of people here seem to jerk it to, but there is always that too. I love the look but hate iOS as a system.

This is a rather odd question, but does anyone know if I can use a wired Ps3 controller with android 6.0.1 with my redmi note 3 pro?

I 3d printed pic related and I'm trying to get some emulation going on, I installed an app called 'sixaxis usb enabler' but it reports that my firmware doesn't support the controller.

I've got a galaxy s3 running the same version of android and the controller is supported out of the box

Is there any way to add support to my custom note 3 Rom or something?
>>
>>57993298
Yes. Use an otg adapter and it should work.

Works on my nexus 5 at least.

>>57993298
Are you running MIUI? Because all you need to do in cyanogen based roms is download a little app, register the controller and play via bluetooth.

>>57993318
I'm running another custom Rom, to be honest I don't know if it works on the stock Rom, because I flashed and rooted pic related pretty much instantly.

I'm trying to run it via a usb otg cable because bluetooth is too laggy (at least it was on my s3), i tried the app you're talking about, and it does pair it but the button presses don't register on the system, by the looks of the output from 'sixaxis usb enabler', the Rom doesn't have support for this as far as I can tell
>>
>>57986472
I'm going to get the Sony X compact. It's now $350 at Amazon. I still think it's overpriced, but it seems to be the only decent Android device that's less that 5". (There's also the Z5 compact, but I want USB-C and a better camera.)
>>
>>57993355
Thanks anon, this seems to have worked, now I'll see if I can get it working over USB
>>
>>57993372
There is another way to play with a console controller on android flawlessly, but you need a pc/laptop with bluetooth and windows 10, the xbox s controller and marshmallow/nougat on your phone.

First you download the xbox accesories app from windows store, then you register your controler on it, now you pair up the phone to the pc and transfer a random file to internal storage, then you turn on the controller and pair it up with your phone, enjoy.

You must register the controller otherwise the key layout will be fucked.

I had to do it this way because the xbox s controller (700 MXN on black friday, 250 MXN for the play and charge pack) was way cheaper than a no name bluetooth pad for android (1700+ MXN), let alone a moga or other known brand (3000+ MXN).

Ive tested it on both a motorola and an htc phone.

It's 2016, good luck finding a flagship tier phone that doesn't.

My k6000 pro survived a nasty drop onto concrete from chest height, but the mtk6753 and lack of LTE bands compared to other phones makes it fairly unpopular.

It's got a built in metal bumper around the phone that protected it when I dropped it lmao. I don't use a case anymore because it feels nicer without one.

Any phone should be fine with a tpu case and tempered glass screen protector.

Legendary Nexus 5 here.

Is there a 5"/5.2" max phone with at least 3GB/32GB with good custom rom support?

I don't expect something like the Nexus series, but it should at least be supported "unofficially" for a while and without too much hassle.

Mi5 is ok but I hear that dealing with MIUI is a pain and unlocking is not so easy.
Zuk Z2 doesn't seem to have much support for now.
