Is Linux really that shit to where its creator uses a MacBook?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Low quality bait.
Article which this image originates is from 2012. MacBook is running fedora or something with gnome 3. Make an AMD/Nvidia thread instead next time

Its actually because Linux is that great that he'd put it on a Mac.

Linus only cares about portability, power, battery life, and high res screens, which ia why he was using a Google Chromebook Pixel last year and not because he thought the bother was superior to Linux.
>>
He's the type of guy who's main concern is whether he can do the task he wants to do.
GNU/Linux started because of liberal thinking by Richard Stallman.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Minix*
But Minix was a microkernel, while Linus made his monolithic.
Minix source code was available since around 1987 along with the book explaining how it all works (Operating Systems: design and implementation or something).
It wasn't copy/paste of course, but the book written by Tanenbaum taught him all the technical aspects.

Only the code it runs matters to him.

you can even install libreboot on a macbook 2,1 - so stallman would probably use it if you installed trisquel

All of that has to do with code ncluding the Intel ME, which runs proprietary firmware.

Linux is good for limited resource computers or the enthusiast, or people looking in building specific requirements for systems. All of those people, and I can't stress this enough, are more than just a consumer and know more about computers than the average person.

The average person won't buy a developers kit for the Xbox one just so they can play games.

And the reason why all the good shit is compatible with Linux is because Microsoft got to the customers first. Doesn't matter if there is bugs or some shit is clunky before a fix is released a week later after purchase, nobody is going to want to spend time setting up an OS because they have other shit in their lives, like fucking and getting high or worrying about if their son might be a fag.

I'm running it on a chromebook and it's not that great. It really stutters when swapping even though I'm running an SSD.
