Will the Moto X Force (DROID Turbo 2 for americans) last me a while, even though it was released about a year ago?
The alternative I've boiled down to is Xperia X Compact, which was just released the other month. It's smaller, which I like, and obviously newer. But it's at least $130 more.

Is it worth getting the newer phone (1 year difference)? Will it last longer?

A good front camera is something most phones are missing, many have a great back camera but a shitty front one. Sadly most reviews seem to only mention the back camera. I videocall a lot and use the front camera more than the back one.

I don't know much about the phone market, but I can honestly say that if my Glaaxy s4 mini wasn't completely dead, I wouldn't be looking at a new phone. The Nexus has a laughable battery compared to Note 3 Pro and lacks microSD support while having some of the best community and manufacturer support out there + a nicer chassis. USB-C on the Nexus is still rather a con since the support for it is almost negligible with the ShillBar-equipped Applel Memebook Pro having to force the connector's exclusive use upon it's (l)users.

Unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, go to recovery, do the required wipes (app and data, data, cache, dalvik cache), choose install from sd card, select the custom rom, let it install, hit reboot (since you dont want gapps), let it start properly it will take about 10 minutes or so but if it takes more than half an hour you should take out the battery and try again, after it reaches the homescreen wait another 10 minutes and then reboot, now you can finally install all your apps on it, f-droid for starters, since you didnt flash gapps you wont be able to use maps or youtube but there are foss alternatives so its okay, this is all you have to do unless the thread specifies you have to wipe something else, not wipe something or backing up your imei/fm radio

You won't get much confirmation with ZUK phones here. People call you shill immediately. It's pretty solid stuff. I'm using a ZUK z2 (not pro) for four months. There are lots of custom ROMs for it and as long you're not a murifag you're fine with it. But there'll be a ZUK edge or something with a snapdragon 821 6gb ram and shit soon. It will be the cheapest 821 for 390$.
Regarding software ZUK is breddy based. They release N for their first phone the ZUK 1(snapdragon 801) in a few days.

Hi guys i just bought a Moto G4 and i already downloaded the security patches available for it and updated just about every app that came by default that im going to use (camera, maps etc) while i disabled the rest, is it normal for the phone to not have a stock file explorer, launcher and gallery? I had the peregrine Moto G and that one did come with a file explorer (shitty but it was there), default android KK launcher (this one comes with google launcher by default) and moto gallery (just about the best stock gallery of any phone ive tried over the years), did i get a debloated used phone or is motorola now like this?

And if you want battery time the Z Play is the best option, you can get at least 9h of SOT on stock, even more with the battery snap. Sound snap is great too, very underrated since no one mentions it. Hardware isn't the best out of the three you listed but it's good enough for common usage. Gaming is the last thing consider when i buy a smartphone, so it isn't a issue, it's a pretty quick and efficient cellphone all thing considered. Only downside imo is the camera is average, it has no OIS.

The Z Play is such an amazing cellphone imo, only chinkphones beat it on value, but unfortunately it's too much of a hassle to import one to where i live.

Wiki is out of date, which sub $250 chink phone has a decent camera with low light being possible and has crazy battery life?

Mi4c struggles to make it past 6 hours. Zuk z2 struggles to make it to 8 hours. It's still better.
Miui is also extremely aggressive with better battery management, to the point where it begins to fuck with basic functionality. That's partly why CM is so popular on the rmn3p.

Plus you're not comparing the specs inside the phone. SD808 vs SD820, 2GB ram vs 4GB, 16GB storage vs 64GB, micro USB vs type c, etc.
