I have been using Xfce for quite some time now and finally want to try something new. Can't decide what to install.Buggy KDE, ugly as fuck LXDE, unresponsive Gnome, stuck in 2004 Mate?
Which DE do you guys use and what are its pros & cons?

Mate is pretty close to Xfce.
Just use plain Openbox with just the programs that you use. DEs are a meme.

Arch with i3 was an interesting experience and ran fast as light, yet it just did not feel right as a daily driver. I get why people prefer the simplicity of a WM over a DE but it is not for me.

There's nothing wrong with xfce, but if you want the most "different" experience go with KDE. Definitely buggy as hell, but looks amazing out of the box and has plenty of convenient features. Also, why do you need to ask about this? Just install whatever DE you want and switch back if it sucks.
XFCE because just werks and it's pretty lightweight.

The default set up begs for ricing.

you could always just leave well enough alone and stick with xfce
I always came back to it after trying other DEs.
