ahh conflicting opinions. you think the bootloop issue and battery isn't that bad then? it's also a fair bit more expensive than the moto g, but it could be better for the later years. i mean it's an investment, but if it is substantially better specs-wise, and with more regular updates, i'd definitely considerr it.
>>
>>57920814
Closest would be the Redmi 4 Prime, its just slightly smaller and has an extra GB of ram, almost no chinkphones come with amoled displays and those who do are either underwhelming or really expensive, i dont see the point of them as all they offer is being more visible in sunlight and innacurate/saturated "vibrant" colors at the cost of draining more battery if your video/game/wallpaper is too colorful and possible screen burn-in after 3 or so years.

Are you >>57910718 ? If so then just buy a Moto G4 or shell out extra monies for a Moto Z Play, that one has amolel display, good specs, all the features of the A5 plus gyrometer, much better camera and is known for having good battery duration, it is also getting Nougat on december 28 or mid january like most other motorola phones.

What's a good place to read up on bugs/fixes of Xiaomi updates? The official forum is horrible, elementary school English and hell to navigate with 20+ pages of people posting just Thks.
Since the last stable update to MIUI 8.1.1.0 the battery drains pretty fast and I think it's because even when you disable the gps is stays on (no icon shows though). Anyone with a Redmi 3S notice this? Any fixes?

Alright guys, I have already posted a review of my new Honor 8 two weeks ago, but I tough that I should state a few things. Things that you won't hear anywhere else.

Pros:
>cheap
>REALLY FAST
>looks nice (the white one, but it depends on your taste)
>battery life is perfect (pic: heavy-ish use)
>Ir, headphone jack, sd card
>camera is good (I don't even use it but, the pictures looked good)
>XDA has some good stuff for it and it's easily rootable

U decide:
>fingerprint sensor button is on the back and it's programmable
>EMUI
I am coming from stock android, and I do actually like it better

Cons:
>glass back could feel a bit slippery, and makes the phone fragile
>the music processing is below than average (4/10)
>lock and volume buttons aren't perfect, both placement and clickiness

Conclusion: This phone is a 9/10 for me
>>
>>57923053
Fug.

I almost bought this but decided on the zuk z2 pro for a little more.

Thanks for the review anon, my sister is looking for a new phone and this definitely looks better than the oppo r9 she's thinking of getting

How much did you got the ZUK for ?
>>
>>57922833
Looks like you have kingroot, one click root and root genius, just install them all, try it and tell me if it works.

Your phone has official CM builds, id suggest rooting it with whatever works, going to the cyanogen website and grabbing the custom recovery, gapps and rom, then flashing it and starting from zero, you dont need to root anything again as you can enable root access from settings.

The honor 8 is ~400aud on aliexpress, very good price in my opinion.

I paid 470 aud for the zuk.

Both are pretty good for the price, but the honor 8 will be one of those what iffs for me since I'm horrible at deciding and just impulse bought the zuk because I liked the design more after weeks of indecisiveness.

>>57924031
it looks pretty neat, i might call it the best phone of the year

the only things keeping me from pulling the trigger were the huge pricetag, the somewhat unwieldy phablet size and the fact that LG refuses to make phones that don't bootloop. Plus there was shattergate but i think that's been fixed

but it's got FM radio, an IR blaster, a microSD card slot and a removable battery with extremely competitive specs; it's only competition is probably Samsung because of their AMOLED displays if that's your style. HTC

tl;dr: do it my nigga
>>
>>57924050

>>
>>57924031

Why?
>>
>>57924114
I got mine today

It's pretty nice, it's main advantage over competitors is the sound quality, but it doesn't come with headphones so there's that to consider as well

unibody aluminum construction feels nice and will suffice until my case arrives. the camera is totally average, decent SoT, charges ridiculously fast, fast and responsive fingerprint scanner

don't pay full price for it, though. There was a sale a few days ago on the HTC site where it was 200 dollarydoos off, see if that's still a thing

I agree, but iPhones don't have carrier branding or bloatware.

My other phone is an HTC M8 att variant that I bought for $270 two years ago. I unlocked the bootloader and converted it to GPE as soon as I took it out of the box. I can't stand the at&t logo in the back, but functionally, it was now the exact same device as the GPE that was still going for $650+

Not really, it's pretty lightweight overall.

Speaking of iPhones, I can see that maybe I should finally jump ship. I'm so fucking worried that my free iPhone 6 will get the touch disease. And the 6s as well as the 7 all have issues too.

Not to mention, even if I stay with the same iPhone and don't suffer from the iOS slowdown meme, I'm being left out of certain features just because I didn't buy the newest iPhone which is kinda the same as not having any updates.

So now, I'm kinda feeling that really no matter what smartphone I get, it's really is all the same shit gimmicks and other bullshit.

I really hate smartphones now, maybe if Apple doesn't get their shit together I'll just get a Moto G4 or maybe a G5 by then and say fuck it.

Hey /spg/ here's a mini review of the Axon 7 for you after two weeks

Pros
>Screen is top tier, perfectly vivid, high res, no complaints
>front speakers are also great, best I've seen on any smartphone
>similarly the second akg DAC is great if you've got good headphones, noticeable increase in quality over the base Qualcomm DAC, it chews through battery though
>phone is super fast, flies through everything I've tried to do, noticeably better than my 6p
>Connectivity is great, works fine on T-Mobile and AT&T, full bars and all
>sd slot+64gb internal is good
>phone has a relatively small form factor for including a 5.5in screen, capacitive buttons, and speakers
>USB c is good and it does get 3.0 speeds
>camera app is quite good, has lots of options, full manual mode, slow mo, h.265 support, etc
>battery life is really good, 6-7 hours of screen on time over a whole day
>charges quick
>2 year warranty is neat
>was quite cheap, I got it for $350 with crappy DJ tier headphones that i sold for $50 making it a nice $300 (main reason i got it over OP3T at $430)

Meh points
>the ROM is relatively stock with about 50/50 good and bad features. Things like double tap to wake and improved screenshot functionality are cool but Dolby Atmos and MiVoice are trash
>camera is alright. Pics are solid, and video is good, about as nice as a flagship from 2 years ago but not as good as the best phones out
>build is awesome, no flaws and super comfortable but also really smooth and slippery, case seems necessary

Cons
>DPI is fuckhuge by default, like 650+ or something. Obviously you can just lower it which i did but that'll make some UI elements notably in stock apps look a bit jank
>Unpopular. There's only like 2 Roms so if you must have dev support then look elsewhere.
>nav buttons don't light up
>notification led is only RG

Overall very happy with my purchase, would recommend.

>>57925419

As for performance, Xiaomi MI5S is estimated to use Samsung 14nm architecture, Mali T-860 GPU, it has 63K points in Antutu score. It will adopt 5.2 inch 1080P screen, 424PPI, coming with RAM 3GB ROM 32GB, RAM 4GB ROM 64GB internal storage two versions, the dual camera has 16MP back and 8MP front one to add beautification. It supports PDAF, dual SIM card, dual standby, netcom, 4G LTE network, it is built in 3,000mAh battery, running MIUI 8 OS based on Android 6.0 OS, Xiaomi MI5C as the upgraded version of Xiaomi MI4C, whether in design or performance, Xiaomi has highly improved, especially the appearance is much better than Xiaomi MI4C.

For that to work, I'd need a fucking microSD to SD card or USB adapter. I don't have either of those.

Yeah either Tachiyomi or Manga Rock, the other two on f-droid are still in beta and the play store ones are buggy as all fuck, literally cannot handle big images, my only complaint about Tachiyomi is that i cannot save my bookmarked manga somewhere on the SD, i have to turn on bluetooth/use a cable and transfer some file to the computer, like why the fuck would you even set it up like this? At that point id rather type out all the manga titles on notepad and save them somewhere, way faster than looking for the usb cable and hooking the phone.

Woah anon youre being way too rude to poor little me who is helping you root your old ass phone even though id rather be camping on de_dust2 with an m249 shooting any spic foolish enough to pass through my spawn point

If your computer wont recognize your phone then your only choice is buying a cheap sd card adapter from walmart or something and transfer everything to it, surely you can spare 10 dollars and wait until at least tomorrow?

And yes, flashing gapps is not necessary, what youll be doing is basically rooting the phone, installing a custom recovery, backing up everything, downloading a custom rom of your choice, putting it in the sd card, go to recovery menu (turn the phone off and then hold power and - button), wipe cache, app data, data, dalvik cache and finally flashing the custom rom without gapps, then you just hit reboot, wait 10 minutes and once it gets to the homescreen you wait another 10 minutes and reboot, after that its just setting up your phone however you want

I'll go ahead with my blogpost if anyone cares how I ended up back on iOS after years of Android:

got an ishit 7 plus for 600USD sealed in box (consider this a pretty lucky find in terms of pure value)

I used Nexus phones for years and would have continued to use the Pixel XL if it wasn't for Google's delusional pricing that is dollar for dollar on par in the US with the iphone.

I used to use Android for everything and having file system access, root utils, UI tweaking, ease of repair, and well developed adblocking were a must. Android is still a better OS if you're going to use your phone for heavy media consumption or advanced features. As a user I have stopped using the features that make Android great due to shifting needs and have found that I only use the core features of my phone most of the time. Since Apple has better dev standards and OS stability I decided there was no point in paying the same for a Pixel XL and getting shorter software support while I'm at it. I did not consider an Android device outside of Google's offering because I didn't want to deal with the obvious disadvantages that come with OEM flavors.

Interesting that I got an itoy at this arguably shitty time in Apple's history. I'm going to sell after 2 years anyway since that's the only right way to own an Apple product and get the next good piece of hardware (whether that will be Android or iOS is yet to be known)
>>
>>57926768
Not bad at all.

Better than a rmn3p which has a bigger battery.
>>
>>57926892
You should buy a K6000 Pro, if you're only using the core features then the CPU can handle everything also a big battery.
>>
>>57926952
>K6000 Pro
while it looks like a great device spec wise, buying it would go against my need of keeping a stable, updated device for a long time. Android (even on mainstream well supported devices like the Nexus line) was starting to get annoying because stock function and popular applications were unstable. I have had countless problems with video conferencing, the official messenger app, email, and other popular apps in day to day use. I doubt any of this would get better on a more obscure device like the K6000

My Galaxy S6 died today. The screen won't turn on.

I really didn't use this phone to its potential, and it was my first Samsung (replaced a Nexus 4 after a brief time with a Blackberry Classic).

I hope this question hasn't been asked too much, but I would appreciate if someone could help.

I recently got a iPhone 6s Plus, and I enjoy it except for the fact that I can't find a browser with WEBM support.

To view a WEBM in Safari, I have to click on the video, let it download, open the download tab, open it in VLC, watch it, go to the VLC menu, delete it, close VLC, open Safari, and finally close the download tab. Its a real pain in the ass.

I was wondering if anyone knew any browsers on the iOS App Store that let you simply click on a WEBM and play it in the browser.

oh,

a9s is shit because mediakek soc
s6 is old
s7 is new but exynos so no custom roms ever and touchjizz (if you are okay with that)
sony xperai x or compact both okay I guess
Huawei honor 8 is emui with kirin soc which also means no custom roms and honor is even worse than samsung with updates afaik

i'd go for the s7 desu senpai. htc 10 if you can chose it would be the best imo.

The "literally just a block" design maybe? If youre gonna get a sony phone make sure its either the XZ or the Z3C, the X is a low-mid budget selling for as much as the OP3T, the XA isnt all that much worse and its way cheaper than the X.
>>
Reasons not to get the Moto X Force? It's on sale and I'm about to complete checkout...
>>
>>57937270
The XA uses mediakek processor. I don't really care about the design of a phone. Just want it to be good. I don't feel very good about paying $300 on a SD650 but I also don't think a chink phone will have the same durability. The z3c doesn't have the figerprint sensor (that is one feature that I am looking for)

The android takes some of that 16gb so you'll probably have around 12gb free space out of box. Mi4c is also missing the microsd slot found in redmis

If you want it for christmas for certain you're probably going to have to pay extra for DHL / UPS etc. shipping
>>

I was an android guy for some time, then I got an iPhone and kept it for a few months, now Im on android again.

In my mind I know iPhones are inferior overall but I cant help but dirty using android now, iPhones just feel so much better to use.

What do?
>>

People "Gaslight" you into believing bad stuff about the iPhone that clashes with your own experience, causing conflict in your mind.

>>

I'm using an SE at the moment while shopping around for a new phone (5X died), and I agree that it's a much, much nicer user experience (even compared to stock Android).

What kills the iPhone as a main device for my uses are lack of SD and that there's no good way to browse /gif/ to watch webms.

Yeah I know what iPhones are good at.

What I most like about android is the ability to choose different hardware and how there are more difference and freedom in applications, I cant ace-stream on iPhones afaik

Problem is using an Android next to an iPhone just feels so bad.

Where is the app drawer? Why cant i multitask? Why cant i customize widgets? Why cant i do anything about appearance besides changing wallpapers? Why cant i play webms on the native browser? Where are the non social apps? Where is the mothefucking file explorer? Do i really have to pay for music? Why cant i torrent the latest episde of capeshit/anime/western drama?

Hi again, and it depends on which custom rom youre gonna install, for example CM 9 is ice cream sandwich , CM10 is jellybean, CM11 kitkat, CM 12 and 12.1 lollipop, CM13 marshmallow, CM14 and 14.1 nougat and so on

They also specify on the post if it updates your android version or if its just the same version of android but with the skin of another, kitkat/jellybean reskinned to look like lollipop is very popular on alcatel phones for example

Nobody does anymore, thats why they do all this outlandish shit like another tiny screen on top of the already massive one, dedicated dac ala HTC and absurdly good specs for reasonable prices (see the Nexus 5X and the V10).

This isnt the third phone either, so far the G2, G3, G4, G5, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, V10 and V20 have shipped with this issue, and they do acknowledge it but they try to keep it "secret" so it doesnt ruin sales, its why LG gives you a new phone if the one you bough bootloops even if you no longer have a valid warranty, theyll lose even more precious shekels if you sue them.

>>
>>57939243
you likely suffer from the same conflict as I did

I used Nexus devices and consumed a lot of media over the years on my phone and rooting, file access, adblocking etc were perfect.

These days I use the stock functions and popular apps of my phone and don't really consume media on it anymore. I have gotten an iphone as a result mainly because the Pixel line was overpriced and I did not want to deal with any flavor of Android besides stock.

Android is still a great OS and much better than iOS for any advanced usage scenario but at the tradeoff of stability and superior app development standards.

You choose your usage scenario and make a decision. iOS's key strength imo is it's stability and streamlined apps along with the longest software support on the market
>>
>>57939858
the whole thing that makes their OS good is that it's optimized for their inhouse arch

>>
>>57940906
Because normalfags dont care about all that shit as long as it looks premium, has a good camera, costs 600+ dollars, has an absolutely stunning screen and doesnt slow down on facebook, they will buy it regardless of it being on a very short timer, after all they can just send it back to LG after it bootloops, buy an iphone in the meanwhile then ask for a refund after it shits itself again (thus all the refurbished G2/G3/N5X/V10 you see al the time selling for less than half the original price).

I think its time to put a warning on the OP because every other post some anon wants to buy a Nexus 5X or a V10 just because they can get it for cheap or its on their carrier and is better than their current phone.

>>57941003
60%? Try 80%, their only semi exclusive gimmick is removable battery, but they have made it so that your phone will die before your battery can only do 1 hour SoT.

No it is not worth it, specially since your phone will bootloop after a mere two months of use, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it since its a hardware issue, yet they still have the fucking nerve to charge 700 dollars for these faulty pieces of shit, at least applel gives you a fullly functional device even if they remove vital stuff like earphone jack or sd slot.

>i did this but found myself missing the advanced camera functions
>not that i ever used them, but still
After my Galaxy encounter I said never again.
Used Nexus devices all the way until the line was discontinued.

No fucking around, simple rooting and stock no bloat Android. Imo, they were the only Android devices worth getting. Specs mean nothing when your phone is bloated shit and when you're at the mercy of the OEM for updates
>>
>>57940920
Nova Launcher Prime and GoodLock to make it usable, Touchwizz is still there but you wont have to deal with its cancerous stock launcher and lockscreen.

If you have the exynos model there are a few better roms for it, the super stock one is really good, basically what samsung should have done from the beginning, make sure you use the super stock kernel as well.
