Is this too fucking hard to ask for a modular laptop?

I dont care how fucking thin it is, i want a laptop that i can upgrade if i need to, not buy a completely new machine every time....
>>
>>57912656
Yes, same reason I'l never get a "smart" phone. If I can't modify the hardware/software without voiding warranty or breaking policy I don't need it.
>>
>>57912656
The degisn of laptops is not that simple. The system requires great consistency.
>>
>>57912656
Most gaming laptops are completely modular except the GPU.
>>
>>57912656
What's the usecase? You could buy a good laptop with a 1060 and a quadcore cpu for about $1200. This would serve you well for a couple years. Also there are some laptops with user upgradeable GPUs, but not CPUs to my knowledge
>>
>>57912682
I don't want gaymer shit, though.
>>
>>57912701
Then go buy your soldered everything ultrabook shit and fuck off.
>>
>>57912694
what if i want a super fucking thick battery?
It would last for 24h+ on workloads.
>>
Just buy Acer Predator it's good enough for next couple years.
>>
>>57912656
Buy a used road case off eBay, roughly laptop sized, but it will be much thicker. Then buy a screen that will fit in the top part of the case, stick it in with some velcro, that shit can be strong if you get the right kind. Then just build a PC in the lower half, top it off with a keyboard. Presto. The only difficult part is you might have to rig a sort of erector set skeleton so the keyboard isn't sitting on top of the hard drive.

>Why isnt there use upgradeable laptops
>There is, its just that theyre marketed as gaming laptops
>Lol gaymers r gay and im definitely not gay so im not buying it
>>
>>57912719
Is there no power outlet where you work? Yes the powerbricks can be annoying to carry around but it isnt really an issue
>>
>>57912694
The t420 had a socketed cpu but that's a rarity when it comes to laptops
>>
>>57912754
>be me
>buy gaming laptop
>turn it on
>battery dead within 30 minutes
fucking kek
>>
>>57912786
It's meant to be a portable workstation not a wireless one
>>
>>57912772
There is, but i actually travel alot by car so i wont have a power outlet available at all times.

people have said macbooks have good battery, but i aint cucking myself with some primitive software and hardware they offer.
>>
>>57912656
Just get a Toshiba, any business laptop or a gaymen laptop so you can upgrade RAM and HDD but if you want a laptop so you can upgrade the GPU then get a gaymen laptop like Alienware
>>
>>57912824
i want a fully modular laptop where i can change components when i need to.
>>
>>57912812
Wait so where exactly do you intend to use the laptop? Outdoors, in the car or what?
>>
>>57912656
Build your own then, dick lips.
>>
>>57912740
Is that a concept machine?
>>
>>57912832
Well if you got the skills you can change the processor manually as well just like a PC but changing keyboard would get a lot harder

I don't know what you want to change as well but if you want to change shit like i mentioned then you should practice more on something or git gud with some courses on basic technician shit since a laptop is not the same as a PC
>>
>>57912674
>The degisn of laptops is not that simple. The system requires great consistency.

You overestimate the complexity of a laptop. It's basically just the same shit as a desktop but flattened.

I'm sure they can make a modular laptop if they wanted to.... but companies don't want to because it's more profitable having you buy a whole new machine each time.

There was this modular phone meme thing some time ago, wouldnt this work with laptops?

Aren't there laptops that can have a CPU change? Im pretty zure there are, also laptops with MXM GPU's.

Omg it is.
>>
>>57912656
Because no one stepped up and standardized laptops like desktops.
So you get everything proprietary. It's even worse now that everything is soldered.
>>
>>57912913
No im not. I just need something that i dont have to worry about
>>

Normies are simplicity slaves.

>There was this modular phone meme thing some time ago, wouldnt this work with laptops?
With the thinning phone meme going on but getting kill, maybe soon but we would have to convince the applel's chinks to go full revolution to the new iphones in order to make laptops great again though
>>
>>57912883
>Project Ara
There is no need for GreyBus when we have PCIe in laptops. Expresscard was the shit.
>>
>>57912682
most of the turbo gaming laptops use mxm gpus

thinkpad x220 with the slice battery.

someone post the pasta of applel getting btfo by some MSI or something

Many laptops have socketed CPUs. At least the sub $500 ones do.
>>
>>57912656
Closest you're going to get is a Clevo barebones from RJ Tech.

clevo/sager
>>
>>57914773
I had a Sager. Didn't look all flashy and shit like most gaming laptops.

It was fairly modular and had many user-removable and replacable parts. Battery lasted like half an hour though.
>>57913581
Eh, they've improved it since then. My Macbook (provided by my school, get off my dick) has a battery that will last a day of normal use.
>>
>>57912842
no, you can actually buy it
>>
>>57914907
A quick google search reveals that yes, it is a concept machine that you can get on a mail list for, but not actually buy.
>>
>>57912869
Hahaha Sweet naive child...
>muh thermal system design
>muh power management
>muh minituarisation
Most components are proprietary for a reason...
>>
>>57912669
Confirmed neet.
Have you left your basement in the last year?
