So I have been using Gentoo for a while now and decided that Im getting tired of how complicated everything is to do manually and how much time I need to spend in the command line for basic things.
So im looking for a much easier to use distro that is very powerful out of the box and I was wondering if fedora is a good candidate ?
I need to be able to work with kernel virtual machines and that is initially what attracted me to fedora is that since it is what RHEL is based on naturally virtual machines should work very well without much configuration.

it's pretty good,
works well on pretty much all hardware, ready to be used after fresh install without needing any sorts of special packages.

Ive heard that it has unusually slow boot times, is that just a meme or actually true ?

I use Debian with XFCE on my laptop with an SSD and it boots just under 10s.

I use fedora as my daily driver after distro hopping for a while. It's super nice. Dnf is probably the best package manager I've ever used. As for virtual machines, you shouldn't have any problems. If you're going to need to use VMware or virtualbox, I had problems with those, but other things worked fine.

mostly this. i dont know about other people but fn shortcuts are broke. probably better on a desktop. haven't tried on my thinkpad though.

ehhhhh it does boot kind of slow.

fedora is best if you have a mac or a desktop.

Fedora is my favorite distro, mostly because it's the most stable and snappiest that I've used. I use GNOME and after cycling through all the major distros that have GNOME as a DE option, it seems to run the best on it as well. I use Ubuntu GNOME and it's terrible in comparison.

The only reason I haven't switched over to Fedora is because I'm too lazy to learn the ins-and-outs of Fedora/CentOS for stuff I do on Ubuntu/Ubuntu Server for webdev work and I don't want to encounter some big problem by blindly go into it. I can't imagine it'll be too hard but with Wayland, I can't pull colors from other apps so that definitely rules it out for now. Maybe when Wayland becomes "stable" I'll seriously start considering switching over.

Boots pretty fast for me. Takes about 10 seconds on an SSD.
