Are there any good reasons not to buy one? They look awesome to me. I just don't know where to start when picking one. I kinda wanna go hard and get a good one, like this, but idk

I wouldn't recommend it, since that is a 2560x1080 screen, go for a 3440x1440 option instead if you are going to put so much money on a screen.
>>
>>57887863
they are short.
a 3440x1440 screen is arguably more useful in a few scenarios than 2x 2560x1440 displays, but a 40" UHD kicks the absolute shit out of 34" 21:9 displays in every way.

I think 40in might be a bit much for a desktop.
>>

This. Jesus fuck, $600 for 1080p? Are you fucking kidding?
>>
>>57888286
generally this

the aspect ratio is all wrong for pretty much everything aside from the few games that support it

keep in mind most FPS games will have UI/HUD elements in the far off corners
you'll run into several unique problems like this

if you're looking to throw some cash down on a nice monitor look instead at the ~27-32" g-sync/free-sync monitors

40"+ UHD is the current general /g/ patrician choice.
/v/idya fags have a legitimate argument for 2560x1440@120+Hz, and rich shoopers can go for 27" 5k, but you can't beat a fuckhuge standard dpi display for standard text editing, browsing, and shitposting.

40" is fucking huge for a desktop computer bro, wtf are you thinking?

I love how retards use this meme while those monitors vertically have literally same amount of pixels. Only thing that actually beats UW is 4K in terms of practicality. But you also need a rather large UHD monitor cuz otherwise you might gouge out your eyes. Then again, we actually are getting 4K UW monitors this year so if you're sleeping on a pile of dollars - all power to you.

Having to fucking crane my neck to look at the top of the screen?

No thanks. Are you a fucking spastic?
>>
>>57889550
try not being a manlet
>>
Why not just buy a 4K 32in or maybe 36in display, and run it in 21:9 with borders? Best of both worlds, no?
>>
>>57890239
Wow that's a good idea, glad I had it

40" 4k works extremely well for productivity, but holy fuck gaming on it is horse shit. its too large for how close you sit (at a desk) and requirements for 4k vidya is crazy
