Greetings /g/, I have what is most likely a stupid question/problem. Just finished putting together my first computer an it looks like everything works fine, but when i move files from one hdd to the other it copies them like its a flashdrive or something instead of moving them. What did i screw up?
Filesystems, just format them to the same file system.

press CTRL when drag/dropping the file to switch between COPY and MOVE. it'll show you on the icon which one it is going to do.
There's no such thing as moving.
Only copying and deleting the originals.

There's no such thing as deleting, just marking to be rewritten
>>57881277
False.
t. writes garbage over files marked for rewrite

wat

He's saying he uses shred instead of rm.

But writing garbage over a file does not mean deleting it.
This is intended behaviour you moron

This is expected behavior, it always was like that. If you put something in a different directory on the same volume, it will be moved, if you put it onto a different volume, it will be copied.
Protip: drag and drop using the right mouse button instead of the left, as you let go a menu will be displayed allowing you to choose the desired action to perform.

Please don't tell me this is a real picture and that someone actually did this.
