>>57871331

You know it's because they have such a budget to chuck at it? They got -incredibly- lucky with their chipsets for Maxwell but they are literally a shit tip company in all other areas? Driver support especially, and the way they purposefully prevent free/openGL development or nerf AMD cards with nVidia sponsored games is frankly disgusting.

You're American, you should understand the benefits of market competition, you (and the rest of /g/) should be throwing money at AMD or nVidia gets the monopoly over consumer cards and progress stagnates.

Throwing money at AMD because you hate NVIDIA is not competition, it's fanboyism. Buying the objectively best product for your use within your budget is competition. >>57873617
No, its still competition.

amd keeps up with nvidia, but due to nvidia's constant shit practices, I cant support them while an alternative is viable, and amd is easily viable. They may not take the preformance crown, but for each price they aren't bad, and for anyone not retarded (any non 4k user) can push a monitor to its max frame rate with few exceptions.

now, take the cpu side, at least till zen, amd is not a viable option, at least for me. If push came to shove, I would likely get an intel, granted lowest end intel and see what zen does, but still go intel.

a company fucking you over and haveing shit buisness practices is a reasonabl reason to not support them when there are clearly other options.

Too bad that heavily oced 970 which easily hits +200 on core is still better than 480RX in majority of dx11 games. A new, more expensive card beaten by a 2 year old 3.5 meme. It's like /g/ is the mirror reflection of reality.

a texture is a texture, and if its 512x512 its pretty much the same regardless of what you do with that space, so you have 100~ people on screen at once, with very little shared resources, all demanding draw calls, all demanding processing power, or witcher 3, where good use of textures and recurring details can happen.

tw3 may look prettier but it has less going on any given scene, and when you are on your own, yea, wow will demand less.

>>
>>57898674
>I see no reason why borderless window mode wouldn't work with 7
That's because the desktop has a different refresh rate than the game you are playing, and at borderless mode it will display both at the same time.
Up until now it was impossible to use freesync when in borderless, because of that issue. And when you use multiple monitors, it's almost a must to use borderless instead of fullscreen.
>>
>>57898699
actually it doesn't, monitor doesn't care what windows tells it it will switch to whatever driver tells it

when you switch freesync on your monitor it jsut doesn't scale refresh rate and keeps it constant but it can change it at any time
>>
>>57898699
Oh I know why it's an issue, what I meant is that if freesync worked on 7 before, it should also support the new borderless window mode, Despite the looks of the UI being changed, I don't think there's been any huge changes in the way UI is rendered between 7 and 10, at most you might have to disable Aero but that's no big deal.
>>
>>57898663
Holy shit that is insane.

So this... is the power of GCN.
>>
>>57898749
What I meant was that in fullscreen there is only the game to render and absolutely nothing else, no desktop.
So every time a new frame was rendered, it would be displayed on the screen.
But in borderless mode, you have different applications with different framerates that would get ready to display at different times.
The best solution would be to sync to the currently active window. This would cause other windows to tear or stutter, but the game would be free of tearing. Up until now this wasn't possible though, I even contacted AMD support about it. They said they might be able to add borderless freesync in the future, and it seems now it's finally there.
>>
>>57898749
>>57898813
Oh and the Desktop was overriding the refresh rate of the driver, that's why borderless window mode never tears.

who /fattman/ now?

AMD releasing drivers is a historical event.

this new driver gives me nothing

anyone got any game on hands?
I don't have any to test recording, recording desktop seems to work fine, 8 second = 4.5 mb though
>>
>feature is gimping the card
>actually praised by /g/
I don't understand.
>>
>>57898866
oh yeah, and does replay feature hurt performance?

Never bothered with shadowplay because I needed to install whole shabang for it to work, this one seems tiny and almost invisible
>>
>>57898882
gcn 1.0 owners actually report better performance even though async is cut

im slightly disappointed with the recording of relive
>records everything on the screen, including the timer that tells you how long youve been recording for (can be disabled by pressing alt+z and going into options) and steam overlay
>quality of the recordings are pretty meh compared to plays.tv even if you turn up the settings for higher quality video
>small but noticeable microstutter that occurs every now and then (tested witcher 3) at least when recording in 1080p@50mbps
>instant replay doesnt function the same way as the passive recording plays.tv had. limit is 20mins and it deletes everything unless you decide to save the recording
>when attempting to change the default key bindings it doesnt work so youre stuck with default
>no quick edit like plays.tv where you can easily crop and save videos

it is nice that the performance hit is hardly a pain. witcher 3 only lost 2-3 fps while recording. i didnt have fps counter while recording star citizen but it really didnt feel it slow down one bit

how would i go bout testing freesync on win7 in borderless fullscreen? from my understanding vsync is basicly forced on when you use borderless fullscreen

im using nixeus 1080p 144hz freesync monitor with r9 390. games running off ssd and recordings going to hdd

Anyone having audio issue with saved recording/or streaming?.
Seems like the audio is going at 1/10 of the actual speed.
>>
>>57898976
>and it deletes everything unless you decide to save the recording
I think it's actually fine if you do not record intentionally
how does it work performance wise?
I got same setup as you, I'm just thinking to keep it 5min enabled all the time
I don't record usually, but sometimes feel like "hell I should have captured that"

i dont do any broadcasting so i cant comment on that. the settings default at 3.5mbps quality and can go up to 10mbps

>>57899081
no issues here.

>>57899109
the performance penalty varies with the games. but if youre playing at 60fps with rx 480 or r9 390 it shouldnt be a problem
witcher 3 loses about 2-3 fps (63 down to 60)
call of duty infinite warfare loses 5fps~ (82 down to 77)
recording at 1080p 50mbps
>>
>>57899203
Did you try recording at 50mbps but with 30fps? I wonder if it will make it look better.
>>
>>57899203
Have no clue how to fix it, every games seems to do it. Tried, witcher, rocket league, gw2 so far
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Y-krwIoIB8ODk5WUZqRVZEZjQ/view example of it. If anyone has any ideas i'm all ears.

changing hotkeys for relive seems to be working only through ctrl+shift+keyyouwant
or maybe through triple key combination

It's pretty much the same anyway. :^)

I tried the relive buffering in BF1, where I'm having a cpu bottleneck by my i5 4690k while the r9 280 is running at like 70%, on medium 1080p. Oddly enough, this caused my fps to drop massively, by like 20 fps. What gives?
>>
>>57898976
according to the videos on youtube you are a)doing this wrong or b)you are indeed doing this wrong
also WHY THE FUCK YOU SAVE SOMETHING WITH 50 MBPS OF BITRATE ON A HDD?
