Does dual channel RAM matter when a dedicated graphics card is present in the system?
>>57867413
now what would you need more than one stick of RAM for?
>>57867461
This is my exact question.
typical DDR3L so-dimm module uses like 3W of power. It makes a difference in ULV mobile systems, so I decided to take one out. So far I don't see any difference in gaymur experience

bamp
In video games, faster RAM will usually raise the FPS by maybe 1-2 %, but will have a huge impact on minimum FPS.
>>57867479
There are some examples of games which load a large amount of objects into the RAM but they are not the majority. WoW comes to mind and .... yeah fuck that shit lmao
>>57867904
and how is this possible?
vRAM is still separate, so how is RAM related to FPS?
>>57867948
Not everything is stored in VRAM
>>57867959
of course not everything, but most things reside in vram
>>57867413
ZFS dedup.
Dual CPU quad channel makes it bearable.
>>57867948
Because the CPU uses the RAM? And the framerate is also dependent on the CPU?
>>57867968
>most things
Depends how we're measuring this "most" you speak of. Possibly. I mean sure texture memory usage can be legendary but in terms of resource count--individual "things" loaded--I would argue that textures (and other VRAM-resident resources) are outnumbered.
Or maybe not. I've been out of the game (pun intended) for nearly a decade.
