i'm pretty sure vifm is better at renaming files, with vifm you can select several files, then vim is opened with one filename on each line and you can use all the power of vim to rename you're stuff

Windows Explorer.

for help in ranger press ? and read the line at the bottom for more options.
You do this with by pressing y twice (yy) while holding your cursor over the file (or you could select multiple files with space. The first time you press y you will see a pop-up with more options.
Ranger shows progress at the bottom.
See webm. I did things kind of slow so you can see what's going on. It's mostly vim-like keybindings.
>>57866045
You can do the same in ranger with:bulkrename
>>57865792
Use ranger's tab feature

You've obvioulsy never used ranger. It's orders of magnitude more efficient than any GUI file manager. I'm not even a big fan of CLI apps, if there was a GUI file manager that used miller columns with vi keybindings (and had all the other features of ranger - tabs, bulkrename, image and pdf preview) I'd use it in heartbeat.
Anybody tried sunflower?

nongnu is literally a part of the fsf
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Savannah
>GNU Savannah is a project of the Free Software Foundation initiated by Loïc Dachary
>Savannah's website is split into two domain names: savannah.gnu.org for software that is officially part of the GNU Project, and savannah.nongnu.org for all other software.

So that's possible? Thank's, then I'll give ranger a try.

You ever worked with remote machines, or even remoted into your own? If you're used to CLI programs, it really comes in handy. You can use them over ssh.
>>57867474
are there any guides for some of the lesser-known parts of ranger like this?
>>57865966
You are just to retarded to use cli. Command line has a lot of conveniences.

What about Windows explorer, right guys?
Eh?
Ehhh??
Why do you need a file manager application? The native command line is good enough in any os
I just use mv, cp, rm, cd ...
>>57869289
so does a file manager
and with a file manager that has good cli integration you get the best of both worlds

I didn't want to give up or just be a whine about it, so I opened a gtk inspector, looked through the CSS and found nothing, but then found there's gtk properties... seems the culprits are column-spacing, row-spacing, and item-padding. might edit the source code and recompile.
