If you see only a single entry for Notepad++, that is me.
>But-
I really do not care.
>>57864341
But it sucks
Gedit + gedit-plugins +gedit-dev-plugins is the best eitor
>>57864287
Atom for python programming.
Notepad++ for about anything.
IDEs for embedded shit.
Nano if my NAS needs some beating over http/ssh.
Gedit if I RDP into it.
Notepad if I'm too lazy to select N++.
>>57864407
what does atom have over ++? especially for python?
>>57864287
Sublime
>notepad++ in the lead
wow I didn't realize /g/ is full of plebs and casuals
>>57864420
Hmm, I just tried it and it just clicked with the right plugins. Notepad++ lacks the directory thing, or however you'd call it.
Perhaps N++ does the job as well but I tweaked atom to my likings and can't be bothered to switch.

Seriously, fuck off and use an IDE

Why even list VS code? It's just a reskinned xamarin
>>57864569
For java? Use IntelliJ. Eclipse is bloated and netbeans is for jungle apes.
For c++? Use KDevelop.
For Python? Use PyCharm.

Typical vim autist: the post.
>>57864585
So now I gotta install/learn/configure an IDE every time I wanna change language
>>57864287
I don't use editors much, but usually nano and if I need something graphical, vi/vim or emacs.
>>57864287
why obsess over an editor
>>57864839
editor wars are an ancient thing. Old school hacker culture going back to the 70s was a holy war of emacs vs vi.

Anyone who doesn't use vim is a cuckold.
And if you use a microsoft product that makes you a double cuckold.

>>57864521
Vim isn't perfect, but it is pretty nice for development.
1. supertab is autocompletey enough for me.
2. ctags
3. got me there, can't rename shit easily. %s/foo/bar/gc is close, it prompts you every time.
4. you don't have to use solarized. I use industry.
5. It still starts up immediately even with plugins. Some of them like CtrlP block, which is infuriating.
6. e %:r.h switches to the header file. If you need to do this a lot you can bind it to a key or something.
7. ctags
8. no debugger support, that's true.
9. vim +12312 /path/to/file
10. elitism is only part of what makes vim good.
nano
>>57867577
small correction:
7. no you have to use an external tool like ag or ack and then use vim to open the file. Vim has ack and ag plugins. They're okay.
>>57864287
>mfw I occasionally code in gedit
How much of a cuck does that make me?
>>57867628
If anything using an editor just because you like it and makes you happy rather than because /g/ or some shitty stack site memed you in to using vim or emacs for everything makes you the alpha.
>>57867670
That's nice of you to say.
>>57867577
>CtrlP
Why?
Just use:e ~/foo/**/*.c
and press TAB for vim to show you suggestions for~/foo/foo.c
~/foo/bar/bar.c
~/foo/fizz/buzz/foo/bar/foobar.c
etc, TAB for the next suggestion, enter to open
Stop using useless plugins people

Vi/Vim is a major trigger. Best not openly admit to such for risk of thread derailment, if I were you.
