Anyone else miss the fuck out of Windows classic theme?

This thing was the shit.

It tempts me to go back to 7 just for this, even though it started to look like ass by then.
>>
I don't

Because I'm currently using it on my Windows 7 laptop

I want win7 to look like this
>>
The classic theme found in XP and Server 2003 was the pinnacle of Windows UI design. With some adjustments it provided probably the most comfortable graphical UI of any OS.

Unfortunately the classic theme in Vista and 7 was already substantially inferior, and subsequently was removed from 8 and later.
>>

Yes. Me too.
>>
>>57862890
But that IS Windows 7
>>
>>57863331
wew, I didn't know

Okay, here's a bit more of explaination: I want Win7 to look like Win 98 like on that picture.
>>
I miss that theme a lot. It was literally perfect. New themes are so distracting
>>
I miss the XP icons
>>
>>57863358
Apparently you can. With Classic Shell and a bit of resource tweaking. Should not be that hard.
>>
>>57863394
They were the best. The 2000 and earlier icons were still a bit on the crude side, while Vista and later were more and more cold and impersonal.

I use classic theme at work, and people give me shit about it. I've even had a supervisor yell at me for "installing Windows 95" on a work computer. Classic theme just looks better with all our shittly written lab software which is Win95 styled anyway.

My only problem with Windows 10 is that there is no Classic theme.

Windows XP has always looked gay to me. Sorry kids. If you think otherwise, it's because you came to age in 2003.

This.

It looked like a fucking toy with the blue and green color scheme, the fat rounded edges and bars, and those infantile icons.
I tried the other themes like the Royal Noire, which was better, but in the end I just went back to classic.

I don't even feel nostalgia for it, since my first OS was probably 98 or 2000 (back in grade school), even though my first computer (prebuilt) came with XP when it was first released.
>>
>>57862573
You have Windows 95 theme for both gnome and xfce. I think the one for xfce is called Chicago 95 and for gnome it's called classic 95.

Look them up on their respective *-look.org websites.
>>
>>57862573
Didn't like. Several programs/dialogs/forms were designed with Vista and newer in mind and look downright hideous with it.

The "fisher price" Luna UI is silly, but once you turn on the XP classic interface and tweak the shit out of it (performance properties, start menu properties, folder options and default explorer window settings, enabling win2k search etc.), you get the comfiest OS UI ever.

b-but those are obsolete and users shouldn't have a choice in the matter because our overlord pajeet pootella knows what's best for users. what's the problem, don't you like this "modern" inconsistent flat design UI that was designed by 100 different H1B pajeets?

Why did you delete that? It's true. Well maybe it's not the best design but I liked it too. They tried something with the tiles, it was handy and windows + x button brought the most important tools up. It's comfy. I'm still using it.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I'm terribly sorry for interjecting another moment, but what I just told you is GNU/Linux is, in fact, just Linux, or as I've just now taken to calling it, Just.Linux. Linux apparently does happen to be a whole operating system unto itself and comprises a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Most computer users who run the entire Linux system every day already realize it. Through a peculiar turn of events, I was misled into calling the system "GNU/Linux", and until now, I was unaware that it is basically the Linux system, developed by the Linux project.

There really isn't a GNU/Linux, and I really wasn't using it; it is an extraneous misrepresentation of the system that's being used. Linux is the operating system: the entire system made useful by its included corelibs, shell utilities, and other vital system components. The kernel is already an integral part of the Linux operating system, never confined useless by itself; it functions coherently within the context of the complete Linux operating system. Linux is never used in combination with GNU accessories: the whole system is basically Linux without any GNU added, or Just.Linux. All the so-called "GNU/Linux" distributions are really distributions of Linux.
