Dell is shit and both them and Panasonic have their computers locked down. If you care about free hardware/software then the toughbooks aren't for you, no matter how cool they look. Beside this, I don't remember them being very computationally powerful

if we could, which we can't, prove that they are not backdoored in any way and impossible to break into, then they'd be worth discussing.
>>
>>57862495
doesn't have to be toughbook to be military grade. Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes are military grade

OP here, MIL-STD 810G is the qualification your laptop requires to make you heterosexual

/TPG/ you're safe. Latitudes and Elitebooks are safe.

You don't have to have an actual "toughbook" to be a man but it certainly doesn't hurt. Your laptop simply has to be MIL-STD 810G compliant

>MIL-STD-810 is a flexible standard that allows users to tailor test methods to fit the application. As a result, a vendor's claims of "...compliance to MIL-STD-810..." can be misleading. Because no commercial organization or agency certifies compliance, commercial vendors can create the test methods or approaches to fit their product. Suppliers can—and some do—take significant latitude with how they test their products, and how they report the test results. When queried, many manufacturers will admit no testing has actually been done and that the product is only designed/engineered/built-to comply with the standard.

No they are not, NASA had to modify the cooling because the default thinkpad cooling assumes there is gravity (i.e density difference between hot air next to a hot component and slightly cooler air next to it doesn't cause advection)

How would I go about making my own super-durable laptop?

I'm talking about a briefcase-sized box that's had all the electronics dipped in a solution that makes them waterproof, thick padding that's fire retardant, shock resistant engineering, fans with filters to keep it cool with all the padding and a heuge battery.

I've made a couple posts on various boards while in some pretty crazy places. I use it for mapping out trails primarily though. The GPS sensor in it is really accurate.
Being able to create my own paths and save them for later is way more reliable than trusting Google's maps or any competitor's alternative. Lots of side trails and technically driveable terrain aren't included on their maps at all, often times they're totally invisible. You miss a lot of the good things in life if you're not blazing your own trail.
>>
>>57863525

>>
>>57866741
>The GPS sensor in it is really accurate.

The one in your phone is just as accurate you sperg.
And more than good enough for navigating.

And good mapping software is actually easier to find for Android then for Linux or Windows.
>>
>>57866798
>The one in your phone is just as accurate you sperg.
Its not, actually. The reception isn't anywhere near as good either. If my cellphone were good enough I'd use it.

As opposed to Equites - people on horseback.
