What router should I buy? Was looking at the WRT3200, but not sure if it's really worth the price tag. Pic related.

no thanks

A 1900 is fast enough and easily worth the cash.

stop with this meme, the pic related OP posted is a nice router. I have the ACS1900, runs fucking great via ethernet and has fantastic fast wireless with a far reaching range. House I live in is over 3000sqft and reaches everywhere via two stories.

shit support
manufacturers don't give a flying fuck about firmware quality
limited feature set
poor scaling
no fine grain control of hardware

reminder that this is /g/ and not the home shopping channel or a best buy forum

RT66U with Merlin firmware.

God damn Asus router all the way, Linksys is utter horse shit. You could also go as far as using a Ubiquiti router.
>>

it's supposed to be pretty nice, you can do some fun things with openwrt on it.

I use the Asus RT-N18U, it has plenty of bells and whistles.

It literally doesn't matter..

I have an RT66U. The radio went wonky on it, and it burned up two of the ports on it. Went to a X6 R8000 and have had 0 problems with it. Why does everyone suck the RT66U's dick so hard? Mine was / is mediocre, at best.

This

The router is fantastic with 3rd party firmware but utter shit with the OEM software

You can't even change the DNS without using a static IP
