Get something like Sophos free and configure it so that it only has on-demand scanning, weekly/daily scans are pointless - but if you really want to, set up a monthly scan for your already existing stuff. Windows defender also works. The problem with AV though is that it's additional attack surface at the end of the day. So, it's really how you act online and what you do to prevent infections before an AV is required that actually matters.

Combine that with good traffic monitoring, blocking and whatnot. Either on the router or your devices, or both.
