I want to get into hacking with arduinos a bit. So I thought of buying an arduino and a bunch of modules. Any suggestions or experiences with this topic?

i don't think you know what that word means

This. Hacking means modifying or breaking some system. Are you trying to say that you want to learn how to build and program shit with Arduino? Because that's also very fun but very different from actual hacking.

As someone who has done tons of shit with it I would:

1) Pick up some newer type of modules to toy with.
This includes screens, LEDs, real time clocks, sensors, and other fun stuff.
2) Pick up some support type ICs like darlingtons, BDCs, and other "support" type ICs.
3) Pick up some older style technology like VFDs, numitrons, or anything that fascinates you.
4) Have fun figuring shit out by reading and experimenting.

Also, you might want to be somewhat good at C++ before you start. It's slightly different environment than bloodshed or VS.
