The only objectively safer thing about applel shit that I know of is that if Jamal steals your phone, it's a brick even if he knows what he's doing. If Jamal steals an Android phone, it depends on how smart Jamal is and what is installed on that phone, but the phone can still probably be used after wiping completely.

My boss has a GS4, my mother has an Edge. Neither knows anything about Android ricing or custom Roms(my boss works in IT, even) and they get on with their phones fine.

They can do whatever they want under the sun by just downloading an app, like an iPhone. Except, they have the option to do more.

I find that I don't use my phone for extended root functionality anymore since I don't consume media on it or need it for technical reasons (have other setups for this)

The only things that matter to me on a phone are stock functionality and ishit tends to do this much better as their dev community has only a few sets of hardware to worry about.

From a freedom perspective, picking between Android and iOS doesn't matter much since core networking components are proprietary anyway and there are almost no options left with a removable battery.

Also, Google is delusional with the pricepoint of the XL. They're overestimating Android's quality as they think they have gotten to the same level as iOS with their ecosystem.
