So I recently got a job as a backed Java developer for VISA. I'm making good money, but I'd really like to find something I can do on the side for a few hours after work or perhaps on weekends to make some spare cash. I am also a certified full stack web developer and don't want to lose my front end skills by only doing back end. I'm also young (26), single, and have a lot of time to start making money on stuff.
I originally got the idea because, while I was at work, I noticed I got $38 for Amazon affiliate links that I posted on an old landing page 7 months ago. Surprisingly, I still get a little bump here and there from it. I don't know if it's worth putting in the time and effort to revive it, but ideally I'm looking for ways to make money online part time.
Here's where I'm at:

My question for /g/ is do you guys have any ideas? Or should I maybe just work second shift at a hotel for $9 an hour on Saturdays and Sundays?

Why? If you give basic courses for computer agnostic people, you won't need to go into much detail. Just steer the course and don't let the people go offtrack with too many questions.

Maybe not a bad idea. To community colleges have night classes so I could teach after work? My hours might wind up getting in the way unfortunately. :/

I think everyone needs to find their personal honeypot. As you said, typical freelancing sites are shit. Find contacts in your are and someday you can find a customer with recurring jobs or more contacts.
Basically, you won't find a solutuion with good pay and little work. This is something that you have to pay with years of patience, one way or the other.
Selling worn underwear on ebay can be lucrative, too. Gay men will pay 20 bucks for one of those.

I don't think I'm looking for little work and big money so much as I'm looking for something I can do in my off time.
The problem with teaching community college is not that I wouldn't have energy. The problem is that I work 9 - 5 Monday - Friday and sometime shave to stay late, so I simply wouldn't have time to do it since there are no schools holding classes on Saturday and Sunday. I could possibly teach online, but those would be difficult waters to navigate until I have a little more experience.
Affiliate marketing reaps major rewards but for the first six months of a campaign you're working for virtually nothing.
I think affiliate marketing might be the way to go.
