I never got the Gnome 3 hate. It looks amazing in Fedora with the Cloak theme installed. My only true complaint with Gnome is that you can't control desktops on a per-monitor basis. Each desktop is all of your monitors and afaik there's no way to change this.

On a Mac, that bar makes perfect sense since all your menu options if the current app are there but GNOME doesn't have that. That fucking date/time shit is a total waste of space.

I'm still preferring Cinnamon as my daily DE because I can configure it the best.

KDE has too many things I'm not comfy with. One of the things I hate about it is the app switcher.

Pic related is how I want my app switcher to look like. And I can trigger it with Supr+Tab key combo.

I thought it was dumb at first, but I got an extension that adds the titlebar buttons to the bar on the top, so it doesn't take up an unnecessary amount of space.

See pic related. I have firefox maximized, and so the close, minimize, and window buttons are all in that top bar alongside everything else.

personally I didn't really like how antergos sets up openbox for you, so I would recommend getting the base openbox package and not the antergos version (just a personal preference though).

I won't lie, it's a fair bit of work. You can get gui programs for most things like keybinds and some general settings, but you are going to have to edit a bunch of files to set it up nicely.

You also need to install a panel (I like tint2) and you can either create one from scratch or find an existing one and just use that with a few modifications.

Theming is relatively easy. You just need to search for openbox themes and there are many nice ones available on deviantart.

The entire process is time consuming though. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you have a few days to experiment with everything and get it set up nicely.
