There's a bug with all torrent clients because they're mostly GUI's for some of the same code, which is bugged and eveyone is too lazy to fix it. It doesn't exist on linux so there's no stalling.
If you need another reason, most flavors of linux boot a lot faster than an old windows install. As for how easy it is, go here https://ubuntu-mate.org/download/ get software to make a bootable usb stick, then just stick it into a used computer and it's easier than installing windows. Just follow onscreen prompts and it's all setup, then all you need to do is get a client.
It'll start up and shut down faster without having to fuck around with updates every few days. It has less bloat so it's a better email machine. It's a better torrent machine. It's free, and generally easier than windows if that's all you'll use it for. There's no reason not to.
