I think that xfce and mate are the two best desktops for somebody who doesn't want to do alot of customization, and they don't come with much bloat if you install the base versions.

I use it. I appreciate all the autistic little settings I can change, and using it on openPEPE means I get glorious YaST too, which is just icing on the cake.

And what's with all this bloat talk? If you mean as in installed size, fair enough it's bigger than most (all?) other DEs but come on, disk space is cheap and you wouldn't even consider installing KDE on a system that doesn't have much disk space so I don't understand why it comes up so much.
