Install Solus
Why?
Can somebody actually answer this question for once?
>>57786010
Solus Botnet
>>57786010
Daddy needs some dox
>>57786010
It's been answered so many fucking times.
>faster boot and load times across the system
>built from scratch, more efficient than a Debian with 20 years of bloat
>best budgie experience if you want to use budgie
>just werks
The performance gap is so huge between this and Ubuntu that it felt like I upgraded to an SSD.

>>57786010
It's probably the single most optimised distro available.
>>57786010
I feel everyone is memeing about that OS
Is there anyone using it daily seriusly, why? besides speed
What is that kevinnet meme? Why do you trust that OS?
>>57786010
as far as I can tell, and someone correct me please, some guy on /g/ named Kevin posted endlessly about how amazing his shitty distro is, posting screencaps where both his login and hostname are 'Kevin', resulting in some Kevinnet meme. I wouldn't even bother with it until some review site or something reputable looks over it and says whether it's trash or not to be honest
>>57786100
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/battle-budgie-desktops-budgie-remix-vs-solusos/
Interesting points I'd like to point out.
>no crashes in solus
>noticeably better performance
>only reason Ubuntu won was because it had bagazillion more apps
Solus has most the standard applications anyone would need, and I'm happy with it on my laptop so far.
Don't hate it till you try it.
>>57786010
Because kevin is desperate!
>>57786090
>what is gentoo
>>57786098
Best linux there is
>>57785951
Retard Solus fucker.
>>57786098
>Is there anyone using it daily seriusly, why? besides speed
Yes, kevin. Because he's paid to do so.
>What is that kevinnet meme?
Kevin is the only person in the world who uses solus.
>Why do you trust that OS?
Only kevin does. Install gentoo.
This much shitposting and unsubstantiated claims is going to come back and bite you in the ass
>>57786716
>it doesn't even use systemd
Good
>>57786812
Boot time on what dumbus
>>57786812
if you remove the linux images and boot directly into memtest you get solus boot times
>nice b8 m8
>>57786098
It's a sad, sad meme attempt actually
>>57786938
systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 1.055s (kernel) + 1.602s (initrd) + 535ms (userspace) = 3.193s
install solus if you want stupid errors all over the place freezing the system
I used Solus before it was a meme and you necklords were using it. Now it's the popular maymay and I hate it.
>>57787002
Please don't lie. Solus is probably the most stable distro out there, even on the unstable repo.
>>57787010
It's the same guy (Kevin) posting about it. Feel free to keep being meme'd, friendo!
>>57786031
If it's so great then box it and sell it as the desktop counterpart to Red Hat Enterprise Server instead of shilling for it for some undisclosed reason.
>>57786146
I dont give a shit about speed, I need to be able to do work, using apps that only run under debian based systems. I would say that this is the case for most professionals using ubuntu.
>>57786090
kevin pls
>>57786010
Because we are being raided by shills.
>>57786194
Ubuntu shills getting rather nervous now
>>57786716
Gentoo is the single best distro faggot.
You don't even know what you're missing.
>it's a meme tho
How come Install Arch isn't a meme? Oh right, because it's not actually the best distro ever. That's Gentoo. Enjoy whatever shitty distro you use.
>>57787511
Install Solus.
>>57786010
Independent
Solus is built from scratch and supported by the community, providing us the freedom to provide the best experience without being beholden to the interests of other projects or corporate agendas.
Stable and Secure
Solus provides a stable and reliable platform for computing while keeping your favorite applications up-to-date and your system secure.
Also non old ancient deprecated packages.
>>57785951
That hi-res picture of Stallman freaks me out. I can smell the Body Odor through the picture.
>>57787962
That it the most generic drivel.
>>57787962
This is nothing that Gentoo, Fedora, Debian Sid, or Arch doesn't have.
>>57787976
desu, I can even notice the loss data due to the jpg
>>57788529
the fuck is hiro doing?!
the 't b h' I wrote became a 'desu'
>>57788564
Thank goodness the word filters are back desu senpai.
>>57788492
Well, by the moment is free from the Sjw's agenda.
>>57785951
I did, once
It was shit. No ootb HiDPI support. Both DEs it provides are shit. Lack of packages. It's fast, but that fact just polishes the turd.
>>57786716
Nonsense, the jaypeg.
>>57788698
Not a reason. We're talking about distros
>>57787976
Smells like freedom.
>>57788923
>just polished the turd
That's pretty much every Linux then. Every distro has some annoying bs to put up with
>>57788492
Performance, bleeding edge, rolling release, and stable.
All it needs is apps and it'll be the best distro
>>57785951
cant, i already dual boot antiX & Salix, my two favorite distros,
antiX = non-systemD debian clone
Salix = non-kde Slackware clone for lazy slackers
>>57786010
yeah but, how do we know kevin isn't a sneaky cia nigger?
>>57785951
Yes masa, righ away
Why would someone shill something they make no money on?
Is solus actually good?
>>57788564
He's de-niggerfying and forcing a return to weeb roots.
Arso, prease to enjoy a crickbait articre. You wirr find at froor and ceiring of page. Sank you.
>>57788529
>implying png for photographs
>>57791381
Yep
>>57789424
>bleeding edge, rolling release, and stable
African, Nigerian, Bantu and 100% white
>>57791449
its loseless
When you remove a package with eopkg it doesn't remove it's dependences, you have to do it manually, on the other hand with pacman you have total control over packages and dependences..
I use Solus in one of my machines, I'm really liking it, but it's not complete yet, it feels kinda beta for me.
>>57786716
Enjoy (GIMP) ;)
https://ufile.io/8a420
>>57786090
steam_runtime=1
Most distros have an option to use the native Steam runtime libraries. That's what I do on Debian.
>>57786031
nice try Kevin.
Go fuck yourself with your botnet OS.
>>57795600
Me too, but since I only browse the web and watch anime it's still performing perfectly for me. I accept a Linux power user might need more though, but it feels like I upgraded my laptop to an SSD with that boot time and loading speeds so I'm happy, which is all that matters.
Stop fighting over what's best and just use what's best for you is something /g/ should do.
