Is an Intel Celeron Nuc much more power hungry than an ARM like raspberry pi?
I consider to have either a Nuc (pic related) or a raspberry for a server and media center.

Yes, it uses about 10x more power. But 10x 2W doesn't sound too bad but it really adds up if it's constantly running.
Unless you need a Windows based server, just go with ARM.
NUC uses up to 36 watts while Pi can use under 10.

Hell no, I am doing strictly Linux. My concern is running 1080p videos while having a torrent server running, and maybe a java application. Also accessing drives is a main point as I have all data in external drives or attached drives via an adapter, for what I don't know how will hit performance.

Maybe I will stay with ARM just for the power consumption.
Another option is a kabini apu
Less than 25w for the entire lineup
And theyre cheap as dicks

Those numbers are pretty fucking shit. Laptops like the XPS 13 with those chips idle at around 2-3W including the screen on low brightness. How the fuck did Intel fuck up power management of their own chips so bad?

That's what I have with a fanless graphics card in my media PC, it's dank.
