>While there are a wide variety of add-ons, quite a few allow users to stream pirated movies and TV-shows, which are hosted by streaming cyberlockers.

>These cyberlockers generate revenue through advertising. However, many Kodi add-ons strip these ads, which means that they only cost these sites valuable resources. In response, several cyberlockers are now trying to ban these add-ons from ‘stealing’ their content.

>“They change the coding to break the Kodi Add-on, and that’s specifically being done because Kodi add-ons are causing a spike in server load and that costs them money and bandwidth,” Eleazar explained.

>This week TorrentFreak spoke to an operator of one of the largest streaming cyberlockers, who preferred not have his site named. He confirmed that Kodi add-ons are indeed a thorn in their side.

>“Kodi plugins are harming cyberlockers due to their massive bandwidth usage, which is not compensated in any way,” he said.

>According to the cyberlocker operator, several of his competitors have already shut down due to this problem. With so many people leeching bandwidth, the sites are no longer as profitable as they were.

>“I would also say that some hosts, which are already gone, were heavily affected from draining bandwidth from third party applications.”

>Other sites, including the one we’ve spoken to, are trying very hard to block Kodi add-ons from their service. This is somewhat successful, but often the add-on developers find their way around it.

>“To fight this, we keep our streaming links obfuscated, changing them multiple times a week,” the cyberlocker operator says.

>Ironically, the above means that the Kodi add-ons might be destroying their own sources, making it harder to find pirated content in the long run.

Thanks for killing those stupid DDL sites, Kodi.

Torrents will always be better because they are decentralized, DDL fags.

This is why it's dying, it's not Kodi , it's just the normies learning how to use the internet.

>not building your own content system with Nzbget, Sonarr, Plex
I literally type in the name of a show in a sexy ass webpage and it automatically downloads every episode in 1080p as soon as it airs.
I can stream it from every device I own incl. my big ass TV with Kodi, also on the go, and it syncs my progress

Name a commercial service that provides the same amount of comfyness and selection.
Protip: You can't
>>
>>57734044
>I literally type in the name of a show in a sexy ass webpage and it automatically downloads every episode in 1080p as soon as it airs.

What about streaming paid tv channels for free? You can do that with kodi.
>>
>>57734044
>paying to pirate

kek
>>
>>57734312
Haven't watched TV in years, I'd rather choose what I watch myself. Can be nice for background noise I guess.
Last time I checked Live TV on Kodi was not working half of the time because the streams got taken down so quickly, is there a stable solution nowadays?

>>57734373
There literally is no better solution to watching TV shows. Of course I'm willing to pay for the best. The <10 bucks a month a decent usenet account costs is easily affordable even for a NEET
Granted the whole home server/homelab that the shit runs on was more expensive but I'm using that for other shit too
>>
>>57734479
>The 10 bucks a month

I never pay and I get everything I want. You are a sucker.
>>
>>57734664
Say mad kid. Your free solution is 100% inferior to a comfy automated Usenet setup.

torrents
>'free' and automatable
>risk of legal trouble unless you PAY for a decent VPN
>alterantively be a ratiocuck on some private tracker which you can only compete on if you PAY for a seedbox

streaming and OCH
>barely automatable, shit quality, have to resort to resetting your IP and other degenerate shit unless you PAY for an account

Netflix and other streaming services
>comfortable
>small selection
>$$$

Maybe try getting a job and not living out of your mums basement.
Or settle for some inferior solution that is F R E E
sure showed them goyims who is boss
>>
>>57734798
>implying you need a seedbox to torrent

kek. I use my NAS and it does all the work for me.

Enjoy your DMCA takedowns.
>>
isn't there a kodi addon that'll search and dl/stream torrents anyway?
>>
>>57733891
>Streaming websites complain when their stolen revenue is being stolen by someone else
Like pottery.
>>
>>57734847
not the other guy but
If you're on a decent private usenet site there are no dmca takedowns. Torrents won't utilize my 1gbps speed where my usenet provider does
>>
>>57734847
>running torrent on a shitty underpowered off-the-shelf NAS that barely has enough power to deliver decent read/write performance
Again, you get what you pay for.
>>
>>57734919
>If you're on a decent private usenet site there are no dmca takedowns

All usenet providers are affected by DMCA takedowns and people literally have to buy a block account to use when they are missing parts.
>>
>>57733891
They said the same thing about multi hosters such as zevera, LinkSnappy, etc
guess what? Years passed and DDL didn't die. It's actually better than before.

t. real-debrid user since 2011
>>
>>57734995
Nope. Where i download you can download zipped files which are renamed so they can't recognize what nzb it is.
>>
>>57734995
DMCA takedowns are a non-issue if you have an automated setup.
Old stuff can be taken down, but I regularly download files that are +1 year old and the popular stuff gets reuploaded every now and then anyway.
>>
>>57735017
I bet you paid for the usenet indexer, too.

kek
>>
>>57735062
No it's an invite only community, dutch site. You can download everything you want without paying anything. I never saw anything that had a DMCA takedown on the site, nzbserver.net is great too
>>
>>57735052
>DMCA takedowns are a non-issue if you have an automated setup.

Which only works for new stuff.

Just admit you run into broken listings.
>>
>>57735103
I meant .com*
>>
>>57734919
>Torrents won't utilize my 1gbps speed
That's completely wrong, you must be using a shit tracker. Anyway, I don't mind alternatives though I've never tried Usenet, can it actually reliably saturate a 1Gbps connection, or at least get in the ~500Mbps range? What provider are you using?
>>
>>57735134
I use eweka, it had a limited deal with unlimited speed, not anymore but i would go with sunnyusenet. What torrent trackers are you using?
>>
Or they could write the Kodi add-ons themselves if they weren't incompetent blowhards. Why are they surprised third party devs would strip their ads if possible?
>>
>>57735171
AB for chinese cartoons, GGN for games (although I'm not really using it nowadays, mostly gone legit with Steam/GoG) and a local/regional tracker (FL) for general shit, mostly TV shows and movies. Unless the torrent is poorly seeded/unpopular I can easily get 60MB/s+ from all of them. It's mostly my ISP limiting me though, since they can't actually provide full 1Gbps all the time, due to congestion I think.
>>
>>57735103
>>57735123
I bet you donate to get premium features.
>>
>>57735247
But they don't offer premium features
>>

honest question: why everything that is usenet related always has something to do with the dutch?

Idk but I'm actually using that dutch provider Eweka as well kek.
Also theres this huge usenet porn board which is dutch

i use transmission, sonarr, emby, and kodi
usenet would probably be better, but i'm too poor for that, and sonarr does a pretty good job handling torrents
>>
>>57735434
That's a comfy setup senpai.
I used to torrent like a madman but got hit by a lawyer letter. Looking to eventually add torrent via VPN back into the mix

>>57735463
yea, it's pretty nice

just search for a show, add it, and let sonarr find/fetch/sort+rename on its own, then emby picks up new files and they're synced with kodi's library via a kodi addon, emby handles who has watched what (used to just use kodi alone, but it's not really suited for multiple machines/users, i wish they'd make a proper kodi server)
>>
>>57735614
speaking of kodi in a multiuser environment, before looking at emby, i had kodi setup with NFS shares and configured to use an external, shared mysql server
it did work, but it was a bit of a hack, things like upgrading kodi had to be done carefully, as the database is upgraded every time, so they all had to be running the same version
>>
>>57735614
I'm new to all this shit, what are you downloading the shows from? Sonarr doesn't do it right?
>>
>>57734916
You mean poetry.
>>
>>57736269
sonarr supports both usenet and torrents
i use torrents, what it does is it tracks shows i've added, and when new episodes come out, it searches the various torrent sites i've configured in it, and finds suitable torrents (which it picks is based on your settings as well, you can set quality preferences, blacklist keywords, set size ranges, etc)
once it finds a torrent, it passes it along to a torrent client you've set up, in my case transmission (it supports several others as well)
it keeps track of what transmission is doing, and knows when things finish downloading, so it can then move/rename the file(s) to the shows' folder
>>
>>57736353
-- oh yea, it also watches to see if better quality versions of episodes come out
a common scenario being a 720p HDTV release comes out first, then later on 1080p web-dl's show up
sonarr will replace the 720p HDTV version with the 1080p web-dl on its own (if you've configured it to allow both, with a preference for the latter)

I can't fucking get Sonarr to do anything.
It won't find any results for anything. I can search the actual torrent sites on my own and find plenty of torrents but sonarr just doesn't give a shit.

The bigger irony is that filehosting sites are mad that they aren't making money by offering stolen content anymore because people are stealing their bandwidth with kodi.

that's the irony i'm referring to
>>
>>57737966

Why does nobody use Quasar?

It's much good, senpai

And instead of streaming shitty """1080p"""" crops from some nothign server in the arsehole of Burundi you're streaming a torrent so you can actually get proper quality
>>

Nice try, but I have amazon prime and I still download stuff instead of streaming like a gimp.
