Whose shit should I be buying for a new full loop? Already have a water block, but need everything else. Pump, fittings, radiators, reservoir, etc. Should I be mixing components from each? First time I've done this.

Once again what do you think of this for my SSD will the higher read and write speeds be worth it or would I be better off with something slower with higher capacity?

This is probably a good idea. Noted. There should be a like an AVOID section. (EVGA ACX 3.0/Corsair CX line)

But that would be easily confused with the much better CXM line.
>>
>>57720016

This is why future-proofing nowadays is so fucking pointless. Just build whatever the fuck you want. It won't matter. Shit just flies out way too fast nowadays. 5k is also on the way too. It's not like many PC games are that well optimized anyway.

Just build with a 6700K you won't regret it.

Same thing goes for a 1070 or 1080. All the people going "just wait, wait for the 1080ti!" are in the same stuck loop.

That loop is what kept me from actually building any rig at all for like 10 years. Every time I tried to put a parts list together there was either another generation of Intel or another generation of nVidia just over the horizon that was worth waiting for ad infinitum.
>>
>>57720016
ZEN SR3 CPUs were already confirmed to be $150 with the same performance as the i7-6700K so you should wait.
>>
Hey guys, I'm still a novice when it comes to custom PC building and I would like some advice:

This is my current build:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TLtwkT

And this is what I'm looking to buy:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HzbWBP

1. First and foremost, do you think it's worth it for me to upgrade? I won't be running 4k res games, I will be sticking with 1080p. I would still however, like to run my games on high performance smoothly: (Dishonored 2, Titanfall 2, WoW, Overwatch, etc). I have noticed a few issues recently; with Titanfall I'll experience crashes and when I switch from games (Completely closing out and then loading up the next game), like from WoW to Titanfall or vice versa, my PC will lag and freeze up.

In regards to the new build:

2. This will be my first time using an SSD. I understand its functionality, I just want to ask if it's really worth it. I know people put their OS on it and a few games for faster boot-up/load times. Is it worth the $85? or are there much cheaper alternatives.

3. I looked into different parts to see if I was making the most out of my money. As far as I know it seems that the build is worth it, but I would feel more confident if I ran it with you guys, since you have the experience and knowledge I lack. If there are alternatives that are more cost-efficient I would love to hear it.

Note: This was added after I wrote all this up. As of right now, my games run graphically the way I want them to. The issue is the lag, crashes and slow boot up. Thinking about it now; would it be better for me just to purchase an SSD and throw things like Titanfall, and my OS on it? Thank guys, you are the best.
>>
>>57719951
Not in my shithole of a country they won't.
>>
>>57720202
Don't buy that. Get a different SSD and wait for Zen/Vega before upgrading CPU/GPU.
>>
>>57720297
Different manufacturer or just a different one from Kingston okay.

And if I may get clarification. Would the wait be for a price drop for my build? Or is the Zen/Vega just the way to go for when they're released.

Oh that is very promising. So I just looked up everything you mentioned. So the Vega is expected to come out end of this year. I've never picked up a GPU/CPU/MOBO on release date. In this case, would it be worth purchasing the Vega on release if I've got the cash, or wait until the Zen and the MOBO is released in Jan/Feb and just purchase all together. I'm unfamiliar how prices fluctuate post-release.

I've finally narrowed it down to 2 GPU choices.

Which should I buy, a RX 460 or a GTX 750Ti?

I can get the RX 460 for £100 new, or the GTX 750Ti for £70 pre-owned.

Pic related is my current build, planning on upgrading the GPU and RAM for about £130ish
>>
So theres some pretty good deals on the RX 470 at the moment, and it'd be a significant upgrade over my R9 270. And with the expenses that Christmas brings, it's probably my best option in the short term.

Just debating between getting it now, and maybe upgrade later next year to something better. Or just wait until Vega comes out and choose between that and a 1070.

Get a Z170 mobo, or switch to a i5 6500. You need a Z170 in order to OC your CPU, which is what the K is for. Would recommend this mobo if you're planning to stick to MSI.

People meme about how bad they are. They do an ok job and unlike el cheapo PSUs can actually handle the advertised wattage/amperage. They don't provide very clean power, exceptionally efficient power, or great build quality though.

They're what I would consider minimally acceptable. I wouldn't use a CX psu with a $1500 rig, but I wouldn't think twice of using one in a $500 rig.

Prefer 1440p for my 1070 + 6700k, 4k would be too much to handle. Ultrawide 1080p could be nice too. Also 144hz.

And do you really need 2 Terabytes?
>>
>>57723531
Not very bright, are you?

It's simple.
I've already completed two of the parts for you, you just have to click on the Case, PSU, and whatever else you bought and search n' select for the right one.

So if you had a build like this in text format-
>i3 6100
>MSI H110M ECO
>Crucial DDR4 2133 8GB RAM
>1050 ti
>EVGA 430w 80+
>Fractal Design Core 1100

I'd go to PCpartpicker, and simply search/select the components listed above to show everyone what I have.

it's easier to work with, helps figure out roughly how much wattage you need, and you can customize prices to show that you've already purchased it or are purchasing it from somewhere else.

Alright, know what?

Lets make this "easy"

Re-list the parts you have, case included as well(so I can see whether you actually need a small form factor) and list the part NAMES so I can plug em into PCPP correctly.
>>
>>57724415
>case included as well
I don't have a branded case. It's simply a common case.

Hey everyone. I'm planning on upgrading some computer of my parts (mainly a new GPU, case ,and an SSD) this Christmas.

Old (current) specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ACuteLoli/saved/jjPnQ7

New (possible) specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ACuteLoli/saved/3Yxcf7
I plan on transferring everything to a new case, but I've never worked with physical parts before. What're the odds of me destroying everything in the process? My computer is just a prebuilt CyberPower computer and it has some sort of watercooling but I have no idea what.

Also, the "new" case is just some variation of a case I found on Logical Increments. If you have any other case recommendations, or any other part recommendations at all, please let me know.

Take at look at EVGA G2 / B, Seasonic G and if you're from EU Corsair Vengeance. All those PSUs have good value and are well built.
>>
>>57722504
There are 4 old shitty group-regulated CXM PSUs which are just modular versions of the CX PSUs. You can reconcise them as having green labels and only 3 years of warranty.

Then there a also 4 new CXM PSUs that are actually good with DC-DC converters and 5 years of warranty.

hey guys, i'm going to build my first PC soon.
currently i have this using the help of my friends: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/v4NXYr

im trying to stay under $900, and I'm not much of a gamer, but ill do some games occasionally like BeamNG and Garry's Mod, though I'm just trying to make a computer that will last long and stay fast.

also, im trying to find a monitor that's cheap (like maybe under 200?) and preferably with speakers built in, but has a stand like this, because i don't like how the other stands look. thanks.

Yeah that's good.

And your computer case isn't "common" by a long shot.

Anyway, this is the setup.

Added the Ram+PSU in there. Have the PSU in my PC, should work fine for what you have.

But if you have the money, move up to a FX 6300/8350 or something along with a better video card. That thing looks like it came from 2008 or something, no offense.

It should be fine. The water cooling you're talking about is likely a closed loop/radiator block like an H100i or something. If this is what it is, considering you're not even changing the mobo/CPU you won't really even have to deal with it much other than unmounting it from your existing case and moving it over to the new one. It's not that difficult, just watch some youtube vids.

I'm about 90% sure it is a "closed-loop" watercooler thingy. Looking into my case, it's something that's sitting on the CPU and is routing back to a radiator with fans blowing out the back of my case. Just looks like a single unit.

However, would I not have to clean it out or anything? Is it okay to leave it how it is and just unmount -> remount, so easily like that?

Actually, if he was on sooper budget and stuck with only 4gigs of ram, and windows can use more than that, the system could write memory to the SSD faster than an HDD granting a small FPS boost.

Get 1060/RX 480 man, 1070 will bottleneck that CPU so hard.

also, I highly recommend getting a 650/750 PSU with a 1070, because you want a processor that can keep up with the GPU to reduce bottleneck meaning the parts inside total will consume enough power as a reason.

That sort of depends on the game, but in general I agree.

Shit like BF4/BF1, a few other games already use more than 4 threads. If he's getting it for a 1080p/60hz monitor, a 1070 is kind of a waste.

Your CPU isn't good enough for all of the newest games, a new gpu won't change that basically
But many games are low CPU usage, and dressed up with lots of gpu-intensive graphics, which you would be able to run

It's definitely "good enough" to at least play the games. It will choke him in certain situations in CPU intensive games, but let's be real. An Ivy Bridge i5 at around 3.5 GHz is better than what 75% of people have and game devs know this.

Another question: say I decided on the 1060 or the RX 480, does it make much of a difference whether or not I choose the 4gb or 8gb models? Is it worth moving up to 8gb for the extra $50-60?

Also, referring back to the original image I posted (>>57725867), when a GPU has a recommended PSU of 500W, does that refer to the peak output power like it says in my image? Or total output power?

You haven't even said what resolution you're trying to run it at. Your CPU is most likely only going to limit you, as I said earlier, when graphics settings are turned way down low in newer games (and you're already at high FPS) or in games with older engines like CS:GO.

The recommended PSU is referring to what the PSU is actually labelled as.

As for 4 GB vs 8 GB there won't be much of a difference for general 1080p gaming, at least right now. Some games with crazy texture packs (modded skyrim, "hyper" settings in the new Mirror's Edge game) can push for more than 4 GB but those situations are few and far between. It's much more likely that you'd encounter a natural GPU processing bottleneck before you'd encounter a VRAM bottleneck.

>>57726931

Which I5?

But no matter if you only want 60fps at 1080p. An old i5 might hold back a 1070 a little, but not enough to drop you under 60fps if you are running at 1080p.

Any current gen / 1 gen old i5 is far more enough to handle the game. Only the GPU really matters.

Here is some reference of the oldest i5s keeping up with TW3 (with a 1070)

On 4 vs 8 gb: It will give you better textures at the end of your cards lifespan. So if you are one of those people who try to use a mightier card as long as possible then I'd say it's worth paying extra. On the other hand that cats will be underpowered when you need the extra memory, so it might be better to just save the money for a new card.

Also avoid the 3gb 1060, three gigabytes is already maxed out by new games. 4 will give you at least some headroom for future

You guys talking about old intel processors.

I still have the classic 2500k,running at 4.5. Coupled with 8gb 1866hz ram. I just bought a 1070, and even though i can run anything, it is clear it will bottleneck me on future years

Why havent intel processors made any huge jump lately compared with gpus?

Lets take from example the i5 2500k and gtx 570, both released in late 2010 / ealy 2011.

Fast forward to today and take on a 1070 and a i5 6600k

570 -> 1070 has a massive increase of several fold.

i5 2500k to 6600k is a meh 35% increase.

That PSU can feed a graphics card about a maximum of 350W even though it's labelled as a 500W PSU.

If you want to actually game at 4K then then RX 480 will be too weak, regardless if it's 4 gb or 8 gb. That's why 8 gb in this situation is kind of a meme.

are you already usig an i5 3450? Sure it should be fine. One or two games might struggle a tiiiinnny bit but skylake Vs sandy isn't a super large improvement. I typed in RX 480 on a parts store, and see several different versions at similar prices. Are there any distinct differences between Sapphire Nitro+, Asus ROG Strix, Gigabyte and MSI?

Sapphire tends to have the best version.

Powercolor...questionable.
>>
>>57728936
Cooling, clock speeds for GPU & memory and maybe some differences in display or power connectors. Cooling is the biggest difference. Better coolers will keep the card cooler and quieter.

Just get a midtier card with 2 fans and it'll be fine. If you want something better then Asus Strix and MSI Gaming X are pretty good from what I've heard.

Get a decent air cooler for 30-40 dollars and use the saved money to get a 2x8GB memory kit and less shitty SSD. Also you don't need a 750W PSU, 500-550W ones have more than enough juice for single GPU builds.

they are not "literally fucking exploding". There HAVE been a couple of them catching fire though. They fucked up the design of the card, and the VRM's get no fair flow. TL;DR EVGA fucked up cooling on VRM modules, which can cause the card to literally catch fire if stressed too hard. They promise to send free thermal pads or send you a new card under warranty. Also all cards shipped after certain date will have the pads applied before shipping.
