Is Mint the most comfy OS of the world?
>>
Also this is NOT a desktop thread, it's a smug thread
>>
>>57717992
No, that would be debian.
>>
>>57718031
Haven't been here for a while, have they banned desktop threads?

Give me some reasons as to why I should be using mint over ubuntu

You'll get cancer and become a pedophile after using any of these two.
Enjoy. Faggot
>>

Cinnamon
it's just a polished Ubuntu, every big ubuntu release means a better Mint release a month later

don't listen to naysayers talking about updates, i get every security update you do with Ubuntu (OP doesn't install risky updates look at his kernel) but if you got balls you can install everything
>>
>>57718402
The only advantage it has over Ubuntu is its DE. Mint's package management is a joke.
>>
>>57717992
This thread is shit. Linux is Linux.

explain how it's package management is a joke without using a quote from a debian dev bitching about how Mint renamed some old programs

no quotes about the security updates either, when u install mint it even tells you it's policy on security updates and gives you options

if you change your mind you can easily see and install every security update that ubuntu and debian put out
>>
>>57717992
Only if you use the mint grey icons and linuxmint theme. Looks like your using the linux console color scheme which is good, but it could use a tad more transparency.
>>
>>57718441
>>57718503
Can't you just install Cinnamon on Ubuntu?

cinnamon snapping windows is comfier than i3wm with less keybinds to remember and a couple hundred less mb of wasted ram.
>>
>>57718646
probably, but would you install Budgie on Ubuntu? No, you would download Solus

Mint invented Cinnamon, don't be a hooker
>>
If you're curioous about something or if you're facing a problem, simply ask around. Linux Mint is the 4th most widely used operating system in the World. It comes with a user guide, a community website, a collection of tutorials, active forums and chat rooms and one of the most dynamic communities on the Internet.
>>
>>57718402
It's breddy comfy desu
>>
>>57718792
How poor are you exactly? Pretty standard to put 32 gig in a new machine and I've updated my old 2012 rig to 32 even.

The comfiest OS is macOS.
>>
MATE or Cinnamon version? I hear MATE is faster.
>>
>>57720408
If you enjoy paying Apple tax and being tied down to proprietary hardware. They fucking soldered all the components in the latest Macbooks.

Good luck buddy.

>proprietary hardware
What's your setup?
>>
>>57720436
When I bought this computer it would have been far more expensive to build something with comparable specs. I wanted a 5k monitor, so that meant either buying a $1500 baseline computer and upgrading a few things or buying a $1500 monitor and building a shitty hackintosh that can output 5k, which means $150 spend on the GPU instantly to even utilize the display, leaving me with $350 for the rest of the computer, including CPU, motherboard, and $130 trackpad.
Macs are annoying to work on, but you can work on them if you competent.
>>
>>57720473
I am referring to the connectors, SSD and other non-standard shit Apple does. You cannot replace your parts with any others, you have to throw out your entire Macbook and buy another.
>>
>>57720500
I have a hackintosh setup though. I use macOS (the OS) because it's the best desktop OS, period. Anything else to add?
>>
>>57720522
Yeah, you are still a cuck. Going through the trouble of assembling hardware that plays nice with MacOS only to be fucked over when they release a version update and ruin your whole setup.
>>
>>57720500
not him, but laptops are barely worth upgrading except for maybe adding ram

3 years down the road trying to update a laptop is a lost cause usually, might as well buy a new one at that point

and then i'll buy your old one for ~250 dollars

Nice try, Pajeet, but my setup has been stable since Mavericks. The best part is that I didn't even build it for a hackintosh, I just decided to do that down the line because windows and lignux are inferior.
>>
>>57717992

I like MacOS but customization is meh.
Ubuntu is experimental but i like it with cinnamon
Windows for gayming.

Mint is truely great. But why these ugly GNOME icons? I've noticed many using them.
>>
>>57720777

the mint icons are squares and look like gibberish, gnome and hicolor are the only normal/non art fag icons that come bundled

downloaded numix and paper icon themes but they are still art faggy. i just want icons to clearly represent what they do
