Hey what's up guys?
No /mpv/ threads for some days I was a little bit worried. :D

Junk made by neckbearded weeaboos. And a FFplay rip-off.
>>
>>57703765
how do you do that?
>>
>>57703843
Look after FFmpeg binaries. They should include FFplay too.
>>
>>57703765
now i may be mistaken but i'm pretty sure mplayer predates ffplay
>>
>>57703765
Hi femanon, still salty?
>>
>>57703904
Not at all (;
>>
Why does display-resample drop frames as hell on windows?
It works great with kodi.
>>
>>57702343
Do you recommend this for 2gb laptop? Should I go with other media players?

And, does this have portable version?
>>
>>57703765
>FFplay is a very simple and portable media player using the FFmpeg libraries and the SDL library. It is mostly used as a testbed for the various FFmpeg APIs.

This retard actually uses it as a general media player.
>>
>>57704074
It does more than your mme player. And no, I don't use it.
>>
>>57704010
a) Don't use directcomposition
b) Don't use angle
>>
>>57704100
>It does more
Like what?
>>
>>57704131
Instant seeking, to begin with.
>>
>>57704170
I don't have any problems with seeking in mpv, it is instant.
>>
>>57704112
None of them works perfectly, I have less dropped frames with the win backend but it doesn't handle opengl-hq and dxinterop is dropping frames like angle and doesn't handle opengl-hq.

I tried opengl-dcomposition=no with the same problem. :(

Does "sync playback to display" in kodi = video-sync=display-resample in mpv?
>>
>>57704262
Anybody try hwdec cuda on window?
>>
>>57704262
No, it's not. Not as fast as FFplay at any rate..
>>
>>57704283
Different anon, but yes it is as fast. And much faster than vlc. Please, tell me what else ffplay can do that mpv can't.
>>
>>57704313
No, it's not as fast.
>>
>>57704278
>doesn't handle opengl-hq
So your gpu is too weak for it then.
>>
>>57704340
Yes but I have dropped frames even with only:
vo=opengl
video-sync=display-resample

Why is it working with kodi then?
>>
>>57704434
And the ReClock extension of MPDN works too!
It seems there is something wrong with mpv!
>>
>>57704434
Idk, I also had dropped frames before I added opengl-dcomposition=no, now there is no more.
>>
>>57704490
Are you using stats.lua?
Maybe there is something wrong with this script.

It seems it works without stats.lua and with opengl-dcomposition=no. :)

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
>>
>>57705339
Keep telling that for yourself.
>>
>>57702343
How do I make mpv entirely borderless using terminal on arch?
>>
>>57705554
no-border
any remaining borders are your own damn fault
>>
>>57705626
what's the exact command pal? I've only been using linux for like 8 hours so I know fuck all
>>
>>57705673
that is what you put in your mpv.conf
the command itself is --no-border
read the manual to find out where you need to create that file!
>>
>>57705715
thx
>>
>>57702343
I'm using mpv a music player, works perfect, but how can I get the current track title for notifications / panel, etc? Is there an easy way to read it out for use in a simple shell script?
>>
>>57705731
Protip (since mpv's manpage is quite large):

man mpv
then hit / and type what you're searching for
hit n to jump to the next search result
>>
>>57704045
ANYONE?
>>
>>57706469
>>57704045
Theres no harm in trying it. If default settings are too rich you can make it less intensive with the conf file. Yes it is portable, just put everything in one folder.
>>
>>57704279
anyone? latest sourceforge build has it but I dont know how to use it
>>
>>57709725
You need to install CUDA SDK
https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-downloads
>>
>>57702343
Sorry but is more buggy than mplayer2. It still can't pause movie on fullscreen.
>>
>>57705323
Than what is instant?
>>
>>57702343
>mpv
>has literally no options, menus, or any kinds of control at all
>all you can do is pause a video by clicking, going fullscreen/windowed, or just close
>mfw
>>
Randomly decided to stop by this thread.

If anyone misses the old default OSC appearance and functionality, you may paste the following in the osc.conf file, situated in ~/.mpv/lua-settings:
layout=box
deadzonesize=0
minmousemove=5
