Love this case. Though not necessarily for the quiet functions (though that's my fucking fault for putting two 3000 RPM capable 140mm fans on a dual tower CPU cooler)
But it's just so heavy and sturdy and I love it.

Bought a side panel with a window on it from Puget Systems for like 30 bucks, since one of their custom computers is built with an XL R2. Really nice and looks factory. Never buying another case (for my main build) I don't think for a long, long time. And I've already had it 3 years.

I almost bought that case in 2013ish when it came out. There was a black version that wasn't that bad and that's what I was going to get. I mean:

Not about why, more about why not? It's got tons of interior room so, and I understand right now I am not using all of the space, if I decide in the future to run a liquid cooled build I have tons of headroom. Because, for a full tower case, it's still physically compact on the outside unlike a Cooler Master Cosmos or others. Basically, I wanted the additional space compared to the R4 at the time when I bought this, and the inside-to-outside volume ratio is very nice. If I went liquid I could have two 140mm rads, and a topside 280 and still have 3 (or 4 if I put OEM sidepanel back on) 140mm fans for intake.
Plus, I have filled up 4 of the drive bays so far. Removed the removable one for airflow but I could see it getting filled. Or, again if I went liquid, a reservoir or pump going in there, or where the mounting holes are for a wider mobo. There's a lot of expansion options.

Plus it fits a Cryorig R1 ultimate.

What case do you have and what were your motivators for buying/using?

Without doing any research, I would say the R5 should in fact house an R1 ultimate or universal. It is, I believe, the same width as the XL R2.
With the side panel on, there is about 1 cm give or take of clearance.

First case was an Antec 900 v3. I liked it.

My current case is a Corsair CM Storm. It's ok. The Antec may have been better. My R9 card sits literally millimeters away from the SSD's. The Antec was honestly probably a superior case. Wouldn't say the corsair is inherently bad, but it's not amazing.

Trying to decide on a case for this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nHrK2R

It's up between the CM Storm trooper, Corsair 750d airflow, or the CM Mastercase pro 5.

I originally ordered the storm trooper, but the thing is like 30lb empty and i'm a 5'5" out of shape manlet so 'm concerned I won't be able to move the thing around at all. The Corsair is around 10lb lighter but it's still a full tower and just in terms of dimensions i'm still unsure about transporting it.

The mastercase is about the same weight as the corsair, but it's smaller being a mid tower and has built in handles, so I think i'll be able to carry it, but on the other hand i'm concerned about airflow being an issue due to it being a mid tower.

I actually just purchased the black one for a new build. It was on sale and I was hesitant at first that it would look too tacky but after seeing one in person at a local shop it's much cleaner and better looking than a lot of cases out there.

- Fairly well made
- Good airflow and mounting options
- Extremely easy to remove side panels for cleaning / maintenance
- Convenient carrying handles
- In black or white it looks more like a piece of test equipment than "milshit"

That said, I almost bought the Thermaltake F31 instead.

Just went from a Corsair 540 to a Silverstone RVZ02. Besides the quality of the front panel and the LED not being RGB, it is an excellent case for the price. I'm really happy I switched over. I can fit it, my keyboard, mouse, and all of my other cables and accessories into a fairly small flight bag.

Goys. I Dun'goofd'. In my excitement of building my PC I just realized i ended up using Black/Red theme. Bought 3 AF leds, and here's the kicker. 3 Strips of red leds. I did'nt realize how retarded it was until it was too late. Is there anyway I can save my meme 750D? and by that I mean make it look better w/o throwing anything away, like what color light would be able to tone down the red?

I dont have a pic rn but basically 2 AF 140 LEDs @ front 1 120 LED At the bottom and the 3 strips I have at the top vents facing towards the center, and I made sure to have it at the lowest brightness setting thanks to Asus Aura(tm) (Aura is actually pretty sweet)

Love my Fractal case, but I specifically picked the Arc Midi R2 because I actually use both drive bays, and like to control all my fans with the controller on the front.

If you're going for maximum minimization and you won't use any drive bays, you should definitely go Nano.
