Yeah I don't see many newer Explorer I's for cheaper than about $5000.

Price wise, it seems like the best reputable dealers online are going to be Bob's Watches and Beckertime, but their inventory of Explorer I's goes really fast.

What model is that?

I bought a SARB033 (the AUTOMATIC meme).
Ended up trading it not too long after.
>>
>>57691670
Because after import taxes and maple syrup conversion the deep blue is a week's pay and a tudor is minimum of 5x as much, also couldn't give a shit about value I like how it looks.

>>57691669
Yeah it's too big, maybe a good thing otherwise I would've bought it and had peasants regret.

I'm also looking at something like this.
>>
>>57691911
If you're keen on DB, get the nato diver
Otherwise if you're looking for a smaller diver, save up for the 40mm Oris Aquis.
The Seiko Turtle is also an option, although it's on the bigger side.
>>
>>57691936
Doesn't have to be DB, just that I trust a US based manufacturer over random chinese or internet shit any day.

I don't like the nato diver dial at all; would much rather have rectangular batons. Looking at the DB daynight divers but even these guys are thick as fuck.
>>
>>57691993
You need to understand that you're looking at a professional diver that goes below 200m. 15mm really isn't that thick in this case.
Don't fall for chinkshit memes, unless it's Tisell, just avoid it.
Look into the Aquis if you want a small diver. Otherwise I would say that dive watches are too big for you.
>>
>>57692046
Are there any divers that rival the nomos one in thinness? That is the only really thin dive watch I can think of.

Maybe a Nautilus? The Atlantik is one of a kind really.
Again, thin and divers don't go well together.
Just get a water resistant watch and that'll be the end of it. You don't need a diver. I recommend a SARB.

I'm most excited about getting that pharmacy intern license. I'll finally be able to afford shit.
>>
>>57693375

RN, we may have had this discussion before.. I decided I couldn't do retail pharmacy and went to nursing school instead. CVS is for a lack of a better term cucking all their pharmacists, no bonuses and the pay out of school isnt what it used to be.

I do know from my part time pharm tech job that pharmacy interns make bank, like $16-19 an hour.

Good luck senpai, I would suggest any company but CVS, a good independent in an ethnic community in brooklyn might be good. The pay is better but you may have to do your own benefits.

I've been hearing that rite aid and costco are the way to go; the latter especially because you get free lunch. I'm not even joking, Costco food court pizza is enough to make me work there.
Are you going to continue and do NP? I doubt you want to stay as an RN your whole life.
How far did you go with pre-pharm anyway?
>>
>>57693485

The pre-req's are the same mostly up until organic chem and bio chem. I did microbio, chem 1 and 2, and the other pre-health stuff while working at CVS. I couldn't take being in the pharmacy anymore so I switched.

In NY as soon as I have 1 year of practice as an RN I can begin taking NP classes. So that's the plan. If you work 3 12's you can go to school in between.

>And the price is a lot easier to swallow than a rolex

But a used Rolex will maintain it's value and likely go up in value over time, whereas a Christopher Ward is worth barely after you buy it (particularly in the long term), and it's often not worth the (sometimes significant) repair bill it would have if something went wrong.

You can think of a Rolex as getting to use it for free, because if you buy it and sell it right you can easily break even and very often make money. Alternatively if you spend, say, $1000 on some ETA dogshit then that's basically a guaranteed $1000 that you've lost.

not one person suggested a watch that keeps time by synchronizing with NIST's transmitters in Ft Collins Colorado, it would be the most accurate watch you would ever own

>>57706426
It wouldn't really be the wristwatch that's accurate so much as the atomic clock it's being synced with, is the thing.

it's supposed to be the chink version of a Tudor black bay.

Has sapphire crystal, miyota 8215 movement, and it's supposed to be 200 meter rated*.

But it's chink shit, so that's probably not true. I did a bit of research before pulling the trigger and some blogger pressure tested and it passed the 200m test. Theres a thread on watchuseek.com? about this watch. Just google corgeut diver.

Not shabby for 100 bucks. I haven't seen these listed on ebay for auction anymore. They used to list them and you'd be able to snag them up for lik 50 bucks which is pretty good deal for what you're getting.

Only downside for me it's the 50mm lug-to-lug length. It takes up all my wrist lel.

Yo, sup.
I drive often at night, but it's awkward to press the backlight button on my casio with one hand while driving with the other.

Question, are there any watches that can light up when you look at them? Like, a light sensor to detect that its dark and a position sensor to detect that I turned my hand up to look at my watch?

Is that really that hard? Why can't I find anything like that?

Unless you raised your hand to look at your watch literally the same way every time without deviation, you'd end up with a watch that's just about constantly lighting on and off

I like Sea Dwellers a lot more than Submariners to be honest, too many assholes have Subs and I don't want to be associated with people that wear them. Plus the Sea Dweller has a really masculine appeal and is an actually better dive watch. I think i remember you lol.

It got here yesterday, so 2 weeks. I'm in california. I'd say it was pretty fast shipping compared to other stuff I've ordered from alie can take up to a month to get here.

Did you buy a replacement band to replace the original? cus it's pretty trash.

10-15 doesnt seem too outrageous to me. I have ~20 all things included, but that includes a handfull of chinese quartz shitters from when I was testing out how useful I actually found watches. Also, I second the tisell suggestion.

Well 3 of them are from my grandfather, more sentimental than anything. I'd say only about 4 of them are actually decent watches. The others include some Casio's and other cheapies. I'm relatively new to the hobby though, only about a year of "collecting". I'll post pics/review when (if ... Lol) I receive them. I'm hoping I don't get screwed at Canadian customs. I went with the white dial. I got an older 16470 with tritium hands and dial so I could have that really cool contrast of the white dial + creamy, patina'ed tritium. I also ordered a sand-colored, canvas NATO to wear it on so I can have an ultimate, classic looking explorer's watch. Video fairly closely related.

My dad wants to get this brand new IWC since he got a deal for 2800€ (they are usually 1000€ more expensive).
I've never been a fan of Fliegers but he really likes it and he has always been a fan of the brand, we even went to the factory in Schaffhausen on a trip to Switzerland just because of fucking IWC.
What does /wt/ think about it?

Iwc is a shit brand with no real horological history who generally make oversized watches for douchey people. Im not a fan, but many are, idk why. Build quality should be fine but theyre still needlessly expensive.

I serviced and restored both of these myself. The Raketa is mine now since my grandfather passed away. We found it in a box originally for some electronics parts while sorting through his stuff, along with two mint-condition 80's chinkshits he probably found too shitty to wear. He wore it when I was a little kid, but I didn't actually remember it till I saw the watch.

The Slava I fixed up and gave back to my grandmother.

>>57721094
For some reason Raketa used IV as their standard for the roman four up until the early 80's, when they retired almost all these models and replaced them with all new IIII ones. I guess somebody finally noticed. Compare their 1980 and 1984 catalog with their 1977 one.

Type B fliegers are popular among normies, partly because the MUH NAZI SUPER SOLDIERS idea normies have and the fact that it's fuckhueg while being military-themed.

Pic related a bong company called Eaglemoss made a collectible line of military-inspired "toy" watches with simple quartz movements, with the Luftwaffe Pilot Watch being by far the most popular one all around the world. I used to see these watches everywhere, the normies ate this shit up so much that now these watches sometimes on Ebay these turds fetch the price of a chink mechanical Flieger or SNK809.

>>57723777
Oils might behave differently on different temperatures, but I doubt it's noticeable with the overall accuracy of the 7S26. Also the balance assembly of watches have been made of temperature-insensitive materials since decades.

Probably because richer people who want a place to talk about watches are going to find r/watches before they ever find the specific watch threads on a 4chan board.

Also /g/ is full of poorfags who would rather buy 10 dogshit ETA or quartz watches than a single collectible Omega or Rolex.

speedmasters are pretty cool. they're on my list of candidates for a first chrono, along with a seagull 1963 and some various valjoux 7750 models. but of course they are a really safe choice, like a submariner or a tank.
>>
>>57726914

the personality type drawn to /r/watches is also less interesting than the ones drawn here. if you just want everyone to tell you that you made a good safe choice in getting the most popular watch in the world (speedy, sub, tank) then you go to reddit. if you are interested in all kinds of random autistic shit then you come here.

reddit, for example, will allow you to repeatedly post the same image over and over. here, you would have to take fresh photos, because you're not allowed to just spam the same thing over again. once you have seen four or five speedmasters you have well and truly seen them all. on /g/wt you have to wait for the old thread to expire before senselessly reposting your Most Common Watch On The Moon That Everyone Has Seen A Million Times again for a nintieth time, thankfully.
