The clean ISO for Pro has Cortana, Edge and Telemetry built into the system, cannot be removed or disabled. Some people use placebo firewall and hosts file thinking it is blocking system feedback, but it isn't.

Also since anniversary update 1607, it downloads crap like Facebook and Candy Crush in the background without your consent and has even more system apps that cannot be removed even by Ccleaner.

So good luck. Windows 10 is a service for data mining and advertising. Use it at your own discretion.

I have done almost 10 installs recently for family and friends. Even with an offline local account, it begins downloading social media apps and games through store.

The only way is to disable it from regedit but that will prevent Windows apps from updating via store. Annoying.

But I need an up to date windows. So I stopped drinking their Kool Aid and let it upgrade.

Yes sure it sends most of my activity to MS. But then what would it really do to me? I got the upgrade for free, so on a sense I can't complain. It's actually well made, if not enjoyable visually, after a couple of months I figured out I could no longer come back to Win7.

On the "spying" everything else does it. Apple, Google, and I think it should be now acceptable. They do put these data in good use, and if this helps them improve their OS an products, we should follow this and stop being paranoid.

They disabled WincdEMU, Speccy and Sandboxie which I use on daily basis due to compatibility issues.

They are constantly using my bandwidth to download crap in the background without my consent. I have no control over updates, no control over my own system and UI. I can't even change the fonts which are too small for me to read. Even with flux I can't tolerate the rendering and my floaters become visible.

I already understood Windows 10 was shit when I made the purchase, but I had no other choice. I selected a product that had the best value for me, overall. Although I had forgotten the specifics of why it's bad, the reminders in this thread, which seem to defy resolution and are shitty in ways that shouldn't even be possible, are starting to remove my smile and optimism about my new purchase.

Not to complain about you guys or anything. I just assumed there would be certain, simple things I could do - ways I might temper 10's invasiveness - to control the damage, as it were. And I hoped you guys would know where to send me online so that I could learn that, as I figured /g/ knows best - I've taken advice given here more than once, in the past, and I've always come away that much better for it.

If there are no board-established guidelines pertinent to my question, that's no problem - no hard feelings and no offense taken. I can always just StartPage it.
