Should I buy a Laser Printer? If so, which one. Toner costs like a mother fucker and but I don't want some $99 job that will break in 6 months.
Looking to print around 400+ pages per month. Color is a nice to have, but not required.
Advice?

that's not many pages, color still seems to be inkjet while B&W is toner, heck we use those cheap 1102w HP's and I have users that do 500 pages a day and they've work for years. (think 1109w is new version, same toner etc)

I would say get ink tank printers, they are cheap to refill and print quite quickly after warming up.

Thanks for the comment. I am looking at those right now. I never thought about ink tank printers.

The < $100 printers don't break in s month, they just cost so much for consumables, most people call it hunk and throw it out after a year or two.
I'd get a used printer. Many manufacturers decided they could sell more printers by not providing newer windows drivers for their retired models. This makes many good printers worthless to normies, and send them to trash or resale.
Do you have internet on your phone? Load up linux printing dot org, and whatever your favorite supply site is. Go to the resale/goodwill/church basement store. Verify the printer works with linux, verify you can still get cheap toner or ink cartridges. If you don't use Linux as your main os, a first gen raspberry pi will be perfect as a print server.
Buy only DOT MATRIX one.
