I had a gateway 2000 like 15 years ago. I don't remember any problems with it, wasn't very powerful but eh.

Might as well ask here, a friend of mine gave me an old Gateway laptop that doesn't boot whatsoever. I've already disassembled it, cleaned it and reassembled but nothing. When you plug it in there's no lights and when you power it on the hdd light stays on but nothing, no fan noise, nothing else.

Motherboard fried?

I had a Gateway M6750 my parents bought me years ago. Slow as hell, but made for a decent space heater. Do they actually make decent laptops, or is this bait?

I had an old gateway desktop with some old celeron processor with windows 2000 on it. Used that thing in the days of dial up for some slow as fuck flash loading.

Yes it is. Gateway used to make very good computers from the mid 90s to early 2000s and then it went to shit for them. Dell, took over the market and other competitors like HP and Acer started selling their computers in most brick and mortar stores. Lenovo is pretty god tier compared to what Gateway shits out these days.

My mom bought me a Gateway before they went bankrupt. The monitor was good for its time (900p), it had an x64 Athlon, and I remember the Windows 7 beta ran good on it. Good computer too bad they went tits up.
