pic related. i didnt even want to invest that much in such a car but since its speakers and headunit are garbage (you can only use it for listening to radio or cassettes), i thought it would be better to spend some money in some quality audio system to use them in my future cars too.

The only crucial feature needed in the head unit is bluetooth, assuming your music device is primarily your phone, like most people.

I know nothing about speakers or amps. I always leave all of that stock since I'm white and not black. Maybe go to a speciality car audio shop for opinions on speakers first.

Im currently using this pice of shit with a cheap bluetooth adapter since the JVC one is more expensive than the headunit itself.

Im thinking about buying the same sony head unit you posted OP.

A friend of mine has it and it works really good, my GF corsa has a Alpine one and also works flawlessly with bluetooth. USB are tricky tho.

I want a good head unit since i use my cellphone with android auto a lot.

The output voltage on that sony is good better than the pioneer listed later in the thread. If you are planning on running amps to your speakers I would definitely go with the highest pre out voltage you budget will allow.

I have that sony mex series in pic related. I love it. Lots of audio options, like seating position, lots of filteres, etc and 3 preamps out.

For speakers I would always recommend image dynamics but that only a personal preference, are you looking for coaxial speakers or separates?

get a pioneer 4 way amp + 4 infinity kappa
that head unit looks solid.
i'm using a kenwood KDC-BT365U pros - Read FLAC from usb
cons - 2.5v preout
pros - same feature as the sony's
cons - not much in the filter and the sound processing department.
im not using the internal amp at all, cant tell if its good or not.

my amp is the GM-D8604 i drive the 4 kappa at 2ohm.

less ohm = moar power from an amp that support low ohm speaker
