>tfw K70 Lux

Feels good having a keyboard that doesn't look like it's come from an underfunded Eastern European school. There is literally nothing wrong with Corsair.

>b-b-but le it isnt reliable

Corsair is reliable, had my previous Corsair keyboard for 4 years no problem. When a brand is popular and more models are made then there's obviously going to be a higher amount of faulty keyboards, but the fault rates are no different than any other brand. This includes Razer keyboards/mice.

>b-b-but le keyboard's 5th row isn't customisable

Not everyone is an autist who wants to mod their keyboard.
>>
>>57654162
My k70 had dead leds. Replaced with a Realforce.

Not sure who Corsair's OEM is but they are low quality.

Anyone have thoughts on the Ducky One keyboard? I like the colors of it, and I play a lot of video games, so the switches seem ideal, but I haven't heard of "silent" cherry reds. This would be my first mechanical keyboard.

Charge is approximately $98 shipped.

Pok3r has limited programmability, PBT keycaps, and a metal case, but its spray painted which means it can chip off easily. The v60 is cheaper, made of plastic, doesnt use PBT, and isnt programmable, but it has more custamization options. They are both solid keyboards for two different price ranges

How limited is the programability of Pok3r.
And as far as i can see v60 with non chink switches costs 110sterling (+6pounds) postage and pok3r is 120-130 (free postage) so there isnt price difference really.

I mean few websited like ukkeycaps have them, but were out of stock for the past month

Which one is better guys? I am going to buy a new keyboard very very soon, probably on Black Friday to see if I can pick up on any deals. (Hopefully Amazon has some)

The Corsair board seems to be better but the only thing that bothers me a little is the red lighting.
>>

I have a Ducky one and its a very solid keyboard with excellent build quality. The PBT keycaps are nice, but I did have an issue in which two of my keycaps became bleached after two weeks. I dont mind since its only noticable when there is a lot of light. Also I wish there was some sort of software to help manage the macros since it has three layers and is almost full programmable.
>>
>>57652544

What's the point in having a general for this shit when buckling springs exist and utterly crush all the alternatives?

This whole general should be reduced to "Do you have a Model M or Model F? If not, dump your vague feedback bullshit keyboard and get a Model M or Model F"
>>
>>57654422
Ive got a model m, but its a bit too big for my thinkpad
>>
>>57654409
Honestly the Corsair keyboard is better
>Same media type controls

The red lighting throws me off a bit but I can probably live with it.

I mean anon both boards can't be that bad.
>>
>>57654415
> I did have an issue in which two of my keycaps became bleached after two weeks.
What do you mean by "bleached"?

I assume that has brown or blue switches and LED backlighting, right? This one has modified reds and no backlighting.

Is setting macros easy enough despite no management software?
>>
>>57654373
They are both shit. Just get a rosewill rk9000 on amazon since its on sale for black friday
>>
>>57654394
They are mediocre at best.
-They're made very cheaply in china.
-Handling and assembly marks are very common.
-proprietary parts

I can speak from personal experience about the K70 keyboards They often have touch up marks on the aluminum, the number row on the top doesn't fully light up due to led placement and key cap design, my keyboard personally has dead leds, and also developed chatter issues intermediately after a year.

Mine has blues and no backlighting. As for the bleaching issue, have you ever set something out on the sun and the colors begin to fade. Thats what bleaching is. Programming the keyboard is really easy. The guide in the manual explains everything

>>57654562
Expensive mate

>>57654566
Doesn't matter. Did all the Note 7 phones explode? No. But because a few did it was an issue. It's poor design, this keyboard has a problem where the port is not properly supported, causing it to break.
There are many many reviews talking about this issue, enough to make me reconsider it.
>>
>>57654506
>Better question.. What isn't made in China?
RF, Filco, Unicomp, HHKB, most of the Ducky line up, and all the korean customs.

Ok guys I did some research and it appears like Rosewill fixed the issue with the RK9000 in a V2.

This anon recommended >>57654554 The Blue Switch variant.

How loud are they compared to the Browns? I don't want to annoy my family with my typing, which is why I was leaning towards the more quiet Browns.

50 bucks is what corsair keyboards should sell at so yeah go for it. There is no such thing as a silent cherry switch. Now if you really want quiet then matias quiet click is your best option since they are even quieter then rubberdomes, but none of those are under 80 bucks

Browns are pretty underwhelming in the tactile department. They feel like reds, but with some sand stuck in them. Honestly I'd go for the blues, plus if you want you can replace the stock keycaps with something more premium since it uses a standard layout unlike corsair or logitech.

or

You could buy a corsair k65 for 50 bucks on new egg. Its cheap enough where its inadequacies don't really matter
>>
>>57655379
I am gonna go with the Rosewill keyboard, looks much better than the Corsair or Logitech ones I mentioned.

Do you think the Blues are going to be too loud? If it's only very slightly louder then I could live with it.

I type a good amount especially at night so I don't want to annoy or bother anyone.

Having tried a bunch of combinations, for me the best low-noise-high-tactile combo ended up being Clears with some 50A O-Rings (often just sold as "Black O-Rings" on keyboard sites). Only problem is the lack of cheaper options that have Clears. KBParadise has an affordable model out there, iirc.
>>
>>57655525
Where can I get o-rings for that cheap? On Amazon the Rosewill ones are like 9 dollars.

Also is it just me or do the Blues have an annoying spring sound?

>>57655526
You think so? In America homes are made of cardboard.

>>57655548
Yea right now I am limited between either Blacks, Blues, Browns, or Reds because those are the ones that come with that model of the Rosewill keyboard.

The Blues are so cheap that I am really thinking about getting them, but if they are going to annoy me then I shall go for the Browns.

I don't get the hhkb autism. the arrow key/fn combination aren't as intuitive as it seems. you also give up keys for no reason.

1. Only HHKB Pros have Topre, the rest are shitty membranes.
2. Rubber domes are an integral part of Topre switches, therefore Topre are a form of rubber dome switch. Deal with it.

if you go onto their website you can see that even they say that topre uses a rubber dome in the actuating mechanism. Its a capacitive rubberdome that provides the resistance and the tactile feedback needed

Using rubber does not make it a rubber dome, just like having plastic on cherry switches don't make them plastic domes.
>>
>>57656177
They don't and thats what I like about them. They are completely smooth all the way down and don't suffer from the sudden shift in force like in traditional membranes when the dome collapses. That being said they are still rubber domes, but done right.
>>
>>57656217
That is a terrible analogy and you are retarded. So lets do everyone a favor and agree that you are stupid and that topres are just overpriced rubber domes
>>
>>57656159
>actuating mechanism
Actually Topre are non contact switches. The rubber is there to act as a spring.
>>
>>57656217
Bad comparison. The plastic on an MX switch is solely for the housing and stem, and does not affect the switch's functionality at all. You could replace the plastic parts of an MX switch with metal, wood, whatever and it would still work as normal (Apart from some changes in force required if the stem's weight changed).

Are ergonomical and two-piece keyboards meme? Or they are really comfortable?

Are spheric keys better than cylindrical?
>>
>>57656273
those are membrane switches tho

membrane and topre may both be rubber domes, but that doesn't make them the same
you're the only one who seems to think it does
>>
>>57656273
rubberdomes are an integral part of the construction and actuation mechanism of topres. Also do you think that this is the first capacitive rubberdome in existence. Others have come before them and they are all just rubberdomes.
>>
>>57656293
Split keyboards have the potential to be more comfortable since they allow you to move the two halves into the best position for each hand.

Personal preference.
>>

Still, calling it a simple rubber dome does not describe it accurately, it does not even attempt to explain the difference in feel between topre and regular ruber dome keyboards. Still, I get what you guys are saying, and I apologize for not being informed enough, sorry anons.
>>
>>57656293
>Are ergonomical and two-piece keyboards meme? Or they are really comfortable?
Yes, since your hands naturally curve inward.

>Are spheric keys better than cylindrical?
It depends on your typing habits. Spherical keys are comfortable if you hit the middle of the key every time. otherwise the ridge on the side sucks. The same to a lesser degree for cylindricals. I know people who actually prefer those g20 flat keycaps.

It all comes down to personal preference at the end. "_ is a meme" itself is a meme.
>>
>>57656371
saying calling things memes is a meme is a meme
>>
>>57656367
no one implied they were simple rubberdomes. When we refer to rubberdomes we are talking about the domes made of rubber. The capacitive mechanism is what differentiates them from membranes, but they use a similar method. I don't get why you seem to think that they are the same thing.
>>
>>57656342
The actuation of the Topre switch is done when the logic senses the capacitance change. You can operate a Topre switch without the rubber dome.

The statement
>rubberdomes are an integral part of the construction and actuation mechanism of topres
Is ridiculous, false, and demonstrates you have no idea how topre switches work.

Stop shit posting about a superior switch technology.

Onto the question...

Compared to the razer ornata, do topre keys feel at all similar? I currently own a ducky mini with blues which I like, but I was looking for something for work that wasn't as loud. I just happened to walk by the ornata at the store and tried out the so called "memchanical" switches and I actually liked the way they felt. They almost reminded me of my thinkpad keyboard which I love. I really don't wanna be THAT guy with a razer keyboard though, so any reccomendations?

If you don't get a full sized keyboard you are hamstringing yourself.

Y'all niggers need to learn how to scratch your balls with your left hand while being able to hit the enter key on the numpad with the right. Submit forms n shit. Hand to key distance is actually worse on anything else because the enter key is further from the bottom right, so don't feed me some 'efficient' hand movement bullshit.

In seriousness, I'd never give up home/end insert/delete + function keys. Way too useful. Even all the shitty mashed 96k linked in this thread are shit because they only keep a few (at best) of the aforementioned. Not to mention the missing numpad. Have you ever had to do math on your computer? Real nice being able to reach everything with one hand. Though I bet you gay boys never even learned how to use the numpad. Shits cash homies.

It's like you 60/66% guys never took a few seconds to learn the universal shortcuts home/end/insert gives. It's like removing copy/paste functionality on purpose.

In closing,
104 > shit > TKL > giant shit > other retarded form factors.

Just switched to a mechanical keyboard. At first I thought "Come on, it's not THAT different"
Today I had to use a cheap ass keyboard in my university.
God, it felt awful, I felt like I had to actually put force to press a single key.

I'm so glad I switched to mechanical, thank you guys for all the help
>>
>>57659299
>>57660743
My Realforce is very linear. Maybe because it has 45g rubber and that's making any "bump" pretty much unnoticeable.
>>
>>57664406
>Maybe because it has 45g rubber
hhkb is 45g and it's tactile.

In fact the very nature of rubberdome makes it tactile.
>>
>>57663890
Tomoko + 15$ keycaps from aliexpress + detachable cable mod is the ultimate poorfag combo
>>
>>57664456
HHKB is different from a Realforce then. Mine is linear as it gets. Even just going really slow to try and feel anything it's just smooth till it bottoms out.
>>
>>57664482
I very much doubt that.

I am going to assume you either can't describe your feel or you don't know what linear means.

Have you ever used a linear switch?

Like the other anon said, rubber domes are tactile by their very nature.
>different from a Realforce
It's not. I've had my hands on every topre board commonly available and the Realforce doesn't feel any more linear than any other topre board.
>>
>>57664506
I got multiple cherry switches to compare to and the Realforce is very much like the linear ones in feel. The big difference from linear cherry switches is weight and how they feel when they bottom out.

I never got the whole "Topre feels like rubber domes". Especially, now after owning one and having some hours on it.

Now for the others then the Rosewill rk9000v2 is 60 bucks
