would /g/ mind explaining to me why these aren't everywhere? i'm not sure if they're even possible.

tl;dr: ethernet on one end, wi-fi connection on the other, to connect dumb devices to the internet. some way of passing credentials over.

How about you use google before asking a question. If you must ask a question ask it in /sqt/.

Now kill yourself.

Nice.

Is there a particular reason why you use it?
>>
These do exist, i have one at work because of reasons. It plugs into usb for power and a ethernet cable plugs into the other side, you connect to the wifi network it creates. It limits to about 50kbps though so I barely use it.

>to connect dumb devices to the internet.
What
Dumb devices doesn't have network at the first place, a WiFi dongle isn't going to magically connect them.
They barely have an USB port for mass storage.
If your device have Ethernet, then it's not a "dumb device".

well the networking is kind of a novelty but i do ssh into stuff with it every now and then. its real use is for APRS with a baycom modem since it'll run for like 20 hours on a pair of AAs
>>
It's called a wireless bridge and they are everywhere
