Name a browser that consistently stays under 1GB RAM usage even if you have hundreds of tabs open.
>>
>>57647680
Firefox has single process and without flash or useless add-ons, it stays around 400-700mb ram with 30-40 tabs running.

Most of the bloat, crashes and instability is caused by poorly written add-ons that conflict with each other and create memory leak.

This is true, Firefox is THE browser for Android. As for desktop, you can just use chromium or un-googled chromium if you dislike FF. But there's still no significant performance difference between them, so I see no reason to abandon Firefox yet.
Chrome will always be shit since Google is an ad company and will always try to force ads as much as possible.

I've literally never had issues with Firefox. Chrome is good, but at I've seen malicious chrome extension (some older woman I was helping during my time as a help desk drone) installed in "Enterprise Mode" that made it impossible to remove without editing reg keys. I'd rather not use a browser that has a bullshit kind of option like that.

I use Firefox because Chrome sucks at handling a lot of tabs and it's user interface is terrible.

I'm kinda sad about the current state of Firefox, but I can't live without Tree Style Tabs and Vimperator.
>>
>>57652439
I went from Tree Style Tabs to a native experimental vertical tab plugin. It works surprisingly well if you don't really want a tree structure and just want to save on vertical space.

How does your browser dictate the ads you're displayed? Firefox and chrome will get the same amount of ads, it depends on the adblocking software you use. And there are plenty on chrome.
>it's insecure
I can actually agree with this one, I've had the bug of a semi malicious add on installed on its own somehow, but I just uninstalled it and never got that problem again.

>>
>>57647290
Insecure? Are you serious? Chromium sandboxes every single tab. You can't beat that. And about ads they are not related in any way to the web browser, noob.
>>
>>57652511
Try opening 40 tabs on chrome and 40 tabs on firefox and compare RAM then.
>>
>>57652514
They compact when you have several tabs open, but fair enough.
>>
>>57652529
Yeah you're right I just tried it, actually when I open 20 tabs firefox uses 100-200mb less of memory. I don't care that it uses slightly less memory though, the thing that holds me back from using firefox is their HTML5 performance. Interactive sites like youtube or streaming sites are always dogshit slow on firefox compared to Chrome. Also HTML5 canvas is shit tons slower. I wish this wasn't the case, as I would say firefox is better then because it doesn't spy on you to no end.
>>
>>57647177

Actually, Internet Explorer 8 is THE BEST browser ;)
>>
>>57652605
>HTML5 performance
Yeah, I'll agree that HTML5 performance on firefox is bad, especially on Linux.

However to me the user interface is much more important, so I'm stuck on firefox hoping in vain they'll get their asses in gear and fix it.

Another reason I stick with firefox is that I don't want webkit to be the only only engine there is, because I fear the repeat of the situation we had when IE was the only browser available, with developers growing complacent and depending more and more on non-standard features.
>>
>>57652690
I really do think if they fixed their HTML5 performance they would be a serious rival to chrome. I know I would start shilling for it if they did. It's a great browser and they've accomplished a lot, I'm just not down to blow $500 on a desktop and have it lag to shit on interactive websites. Works fine on Chromium, I'll just start using some other webkit browser if I really start hating google's spying.
>>
>>57652605
I came to this thread to see schills fight, not for an honest analysis.

But this is exactly why I use Firefox. I'm willing to accept potato HTML5 performance while using only a max of 2 GiB of RAM (including virtual memory size).

That and TreeStyleTabs.

I thought this too when comparing Chrome with other browsers. Then I realized I needed to add on some things like uBlock Origin and stuff like that. Surely enough, as I gradually added more and more until I had the exact same setup I had on Chrome, I found my RAM usage increasing significantly until it finally surpassed Chrome's usage. Chrome is still shit but Firefox is even worse and other browsers lack third-party support in the form of extensions/add-ons.

The problem is I'd like to use that RAM for VMs. Chrome seems to think it's the only thing that will ever run on my computer. That's why I use Firefox. That and rice. Can't rice chrome for anything, and chrome always looks completely out of place and just bad on every OS.

google has optimized it recently and will continue to do so to avoid this potential issue. it's never consumed my ram to where it would be a problem

that's because it was an add-on. the browser is still secure. therefore not insecure.

I'll just deal with the problems inherent to Pale Moon if it means that I get to have all of my memory to work with other programs and not be monitored to such a degree.

Vivaldi. I love how the creators of Vivaldi listened to my email and made it so you can use custom RGB colours to pick any colour for your theme. It goes so well with my minimalist setup. Th-thanks Vivaldi for listening to me.

I was using Pale Meme and they just updated. I need something else that doesn't support whatever lets Google shove their shitty new design on me. I got it because it broke Google and I could see classic design now it's phoneshit.

I really just hate new designs, please send help. It's why I don't like Chrome, because I like the OG Windows menu bar.
>>
>>57659888
your isp already knows that so who cares
>>
>>57647235
I've been using Palememe and so far it hasn't disappointed
>>
>>57662455
You could always download a theme if you don't like the design m8
>>
>>57662678
If it can't make it look like OG windows, I don't give a shit.

I already tried deleting my cookies but Pale meme's update to v27 started causing this, whereas it looked fine before.

v26 apphanged a lot, too, but that seems to have stopped.
>>
>>57662729
oh i thought you meant the design of the browser itself

As for that:
Options->Advanced->General->Compatibility->User Agent Mode: Firefox compatibility
that should get your googles back to normal

by the way that's the 'old' google design, not the new you fucking faget
>>
>>57662755
Nah, it's their phoneshit design they dump to when they won't know what's up.

Also, it's on so ??? I guess I'll try vivaldi.

If you have to use a "degoogled" version of something, you're just biding time until they close your loophole.

Start using a better browser.
