Hello. It looks like I may need to get a new motherboard. Over the past few days all of my USB ports have started failing at random without any significant system changes.
Everything in my computer is at least 5 years old, but I'm not working at the moment so I'd prefer to avoid any unnecessary expenditures. I do a moderate amount of gaming, but nothing crazy. I would like to play the Witcher III though.
At the very minimum I'd get a new video card and motherboard, but is any of the other stuff worth keeping?
I'd say so, sell the GPU on if you wanna make some money though.

Would anyone want that garbage? It's almost 7 years old.

Just buy a USB3/3.1 PCI-E card and ignore the on board ports.

With a newer GPU that could be very competent at most recent games. If you do upgrade though, perhaps save the RAM unless you're going DDR4, and the hard drive is good too.

eBay. Hell I'd buy it if I could, I have a 9600gt in my secondary rig currently as my 480 died recently.

Would this one work OK?

Someone out there can make use of it, you might be able to get 20 bucks for it.
As for what you should keep, your CPU is still decent enough if you overclock it, and if your RAM works then there you go.
Get a new motherboard out of necessity, along with a new graphics card, and you'll be able to run recent games like The Witcher 3.
