I hope you do know that tablet doesn't run the system critical functions... It's just for I/O. The system functions will run on some embedded system somewhere that's using an RTOS. Ubuntu is not deterministic.

there are darker forces at work in the self driving sector I'm sure though. i recall Jorge mentioning a company who is doing self driving on the highway for trucks. there's a lot of money involved in that so I think that's probably actually going to come out soon.
