Hey /g/ I have a m5a78l-m/usb3 AM3+ motherboard for my FX 8320 and I was wondering if I can do a stable overclock but im afraid of frying or killing my motherboard. I also have a Hyper 212 Evo.

If you have ample power and cooling you are able. Overclocking will shorten the lifespan, but you can do what you want to with it.

Is 500W enough?
I am hoping to overclock to a stable 4.2Ghz or somewhere around there without causing any harm to my mobo

Is your mobo any good or is it a cheap piece of shit? A friend of mine managed to overclock his 8350 but found out his mobo was cheap garbage. Honestly figure out what your gear is rated and hit up overclock.net and see if you can find a guide for bulldozer which will help you a lot.

My mobo cost me around 55$ USD

What's the power phase? My friend had an ASRock with 3 phase and it got fucked by the electricity one time so the fans kept spinning even though everything else died.

4+1 or something like that

I don't know it that well, but ask people on places like overclock.net and ask about the Vcore which is the amount of voltage your CPU has and the multiplier.
