I'm suspicious that my CPU temps are too high. I'm averaging 50 degrees across all 4 cores, idling. CPU is i7 3770 with stock cooler.
My 1070 idles at ~48 degrees which I assume is normal.
Should I look into better cooling? Thanks

Gigabyte, not the xtreme one. 3 fans.
The default fan curve is set to activate on around 50 degrees and I find mine constantly switching on and off the fans
>>
>>57625544
Turn the 0db mode off.
If I turn on the 0db mode, the fans on mine only start to run when it reaches 60º.
But since I have that shit turned off, they're always spinning at 36% and they're pretty much non audible. So even at heavy gaming, the card hardly reaches 55º.
>>
>>57625513
They aren't a must for anything. If anything they've become a mark of someone that cares more about cosmetics than performance.

Sometimes I wish the giant PC cases of today didn't exist. Back when cable management was more cable origami. I'd be a lot more impressed if you cut all those wires to length instead of just throwing shoelaces on them.
>>
>>57625595
Those rubbery PSU cables are ugly as fuck.
Plus it's not like I'm running a shitty PC, to not care about performance.
>>
>>57625590
I don't really mind the noise that much but isn't it bad for the fans to be active all the time?
>>
>>57625610
Just because you have parts doesn't mean they are running efficiently.
>>
>>57625664
They always were on previous, before this 0db ultra silent mode fad became the norm.
It'll reduce the fans lifespan, but at least your card won't be cooking every single day.

What makes you think they aren't running efficiently?

>possibly blocking air flow, and temperature issues
This is false. Individually sleeved cables are round, and so air has no problem passing around/between them.
But ignoring the fact that individually sleeved cables would have a very difficult time fucking your airflow just because they're round, let's consider that you can fill your case with boxes and see only a small increase in temperatures as long as you have intake and exhaust fans in their appropriate places. Your tower will never be so full of cables that they are preventing any amount of airflow.

No, desperate would be filling my own case with boxes and running 10+ minutes of stress tests just to prove a point. Very nice! What psu, external?
Unless you actually need more ram, I whouldn't reccomend getting more if you plan on overclocking. More ram stresses the memory controller more, and can limit oc.

>>57627086
>price/performance
>water cooling
>1000W PSU

The psu I got for the price of a 750w of the same line on sale, they are the same size but higher quality components in 1000w, so it'll probably last longer.

The water cooling is parts from old systems which I mostly bought used years ago, blocks have been given or traded to me by friends, only gpu core and cpu is watercooled.

Motherboard is a Asrock z97m anniversity, cost me under $100.

Cpu is a i5 4670k, running 4.2ghz (very hot, shitty oc'er. Traded it with a friend.

Ram is 16gb crucial 1600mhz LP, under $100.

Gpu is a GTX 1060 6gb I got for under the price of the 3gb model on a hour-sale. loads at under 40c in furmark.

Case was $30.

>Mister, please tell me how to un-meme my shit, I BEG OF YOU!!!

I later fixed it with another paycheck, now 6x8gb in trips channel
4.25ghz was all I could squeeze though, something still not right.
>>
>>57627668
What cpu's you got? I had 2x x5670 hexa cores running 4.4ghz! :)
110% badass, but damn that heat..

When I had sr2 I needed to set the round trip latency timings, not have them on auto to get high oc on cpu.. You have to search around for what timings, cant remember.
Higher ram speeds is more tasking on the imc and could also limit cpu oc, so best to just keep on 1600 or lower.

Also 1366 cpus need voltage on imc (integrated memory controller) to get the top en out of your cpu's, think it was called uncore or vtt in bios. dont go over 1.45v on vcore or vtt.

The cpu PLL voltage needs to be 1.8v or lower (NOT HIGHER).

And lastly the chipset (called NB or PCH in bios) I had at 1.35 or 1.4v to get 200+ baseclock stable.

Hope that helps.
>>
>>57627922
>>57627668
Also disable spread spectrum on cpu and pcie helped baseclock I think.
